I got rearended
Ok I got hit at a light on us19 after work today. The his was pretty decent but not devastating. Her smaller Range Rover took the brunt of the hit. My rear hitch took the most of the impact. The truck has mostly cosmetic damage along with a dented bumper pull hitch. I have a trip for labor day planned. So yes this sucks not the end of the world I'm towing with a reese goose box so I'm not worried about that. My question is basically can you find a gooseneck rental truck or just wait till we get back to drop the truck off at the body shop? I think I know my opinion but if I'm missing something I would love to find Info. I can't find any options but to wait.

A quality body shop should be able to fix things by labor day.
At least get it in and estimated.

I'm farther south in the county but well aware of the perils of US19. I use BayNews9 traffic alerts on my phone and so many crashes on that road. Thankfully the hit was at low speed and all are OK. Hope you are up and running in time for the next trip. Sounds like odds are good!

Glad you got it fixed and hope you have a great time at DWorld. Your site looks exactly like the one we were in last April.

Sorry you suffered the inconvenience caused by a "tailgater" (or distracted driver).
Your accident illustrates why it's not a good idea to travel around with the Weight Distribution Hitch installed in the socket. Your "hitch" (drawbar) was merely dented. If he WDH "head" was installed there's no telling how much damage would have been done to the drawbar and possibly the rear frame rails of the truck.
Don't know the specifics of your accident but around here people seem to think that if you leave more than 5-6 feet between vehicles in heavy traffic someone might sneak in ahead of them. Being retired I only drive in commuter traffic one day a week. Never fail to see at least ONE rear-ender and often several more. Every time I look in my rear view mirror it seems like someone is trying to read the fine print on my license plate frame.
All that impatience and they don't realize how much even a "fender-bender" will delay their trip.

I got tired of not being able to see people who rode right on my rear end in Denver rush hour traffic so I decided to put and leave one of my drop-downs with a ball on it in the trailer hitch...
Funny...after that no more tailgators!
Don't live in Denver anymore but it is still there and still keeping those T-gators away!

I agree with the wdh statement I do not have one though. We have a fifth wheel. I did have my normal receiver in for protection it's just cheap insurance. As to the traffic people I. Florida drive like mainiacs. I do think she was distracted though

Leave a draw bar and ball on my truck all the time. Stopped at a light and a woman in a minivan bangs into me. I get out to look thinking that the loud noise had to indicate some damage. She didn't even get out to look. Big hole in the front of her minivan plastic. Just scratched the paint on the draw bar. Since she was totally unconcerned, I just gave the thumbs up and got back in my truck. I would have liked to have been there when she did see the hole in her car.

When I had a pickup, I put a 6” vise on the receiver. It was bolted to a plate welded to 2” tube.
I had tried the ball mount, but found the vise worked even better. 2 hits with a ball, no hits with the vise.
A vise looks funny (and somewhat harder to Explain) on a Sequoia with a 65 year old man driving it.
About 1969, My cousin took an old grocery cart and modded it to fit the luggage rack on his 356 Porsche. It held oxygen and acetylene cylinders and hoses that was plainly visible. It was amazing how large eyeballs can get when a tailgater wakes up and realizes what is right in front of him. Backs right off.
Glad to see the truck got fixed.
