We stay at Hillman Ferry in KY a couple of weeks each year. The other large developed campground in LBL is in TN at the South end called Piney. A smaller, but nice campground is Energy, it is also developed. There is an equestrian campground that is developed too called Wrangler. Lots of small primitive campgrounds scattered around.
There are 3 KY state parks nearby: Barkley, Kenlake and KY Dam Village.
Also a couple of COE camprounds: Canal and Eureka.
There are quite a few private campgrounds outside of LBL but I don't know much about them.
Lots to do in the area including hiking, bike trails, elk and bison prarie, planetarium, an old homestead museum, nature center...
We boat and fish.
LBL is huge with lots of lake around it. Mostly for those that like outdoor activities.
