I think he skipped a few chapters.

This is why there is such a credibility gap on the internet today. This guy has probably writing all kinds of articles with ZERO experience and is probably viewed by many as a "guru".

I think the first clue that this adventure was going to be a train wreck is when he had to get a lady friend to drive the van for him.

I will say that in the one picture she looks a lot smarter than he does

In my industry, we call that a "low bar".

You know, his 'review' makes me want to swear, however I shall refrain and just say... he is an idiot. Talk about first world problems. Sheesh.

I had a fleeting thought about this guy.

I wonder how things would turn out if he decided to rent a plane (assuming he could even pass ground school and solo).

He was supposedly trained before he departed but it didn't stick. If he tried flying there would probably be a big hole in the landscape somewhere as I'm sure his brain wouldn't have any more "stick".

He posted another self indulgent, idiotic 'report' about van life and his travails and worries about finding a place to park over night. What kind of person writes "a two hour drive turned into a 3 hour road trip due to traffic"? So, have you never driven a car in the northeastern part of the U.S.?

>Walmarts all told him no over night parking, what would he do?!
>He was frightened a police man would knock on his window and make him move
>Cracker Barrel said sure, you can park overnight
>Sadly they were closed so he had to do a walk thru at the Wendy's (van too tall)
>What a bummer, it was too cramped inside for him to consume his Wendy's repast, had to eat in the restaurant, just shameful
>He was so surprised to find parking spots marked for RVs at Cracker Barrel (Actually, I didn't know they did that!)
>"All" the campgrounds he tried were closed due to the winter (WHAT? Never heard of state parks? Are those too pedestrian for you little guy?)

I'm sorry. I usually don't think of myself as an angry old man but this type of asinine, whiny, self-centered and complaining type of diatribe really irritates me. Grow up, do the tiniest bit of research before you decide to write an article for publication about a life style or activity you obviously know nothing about.

OK, rant over, at least until I read another one of his 'reports' from the van life road trip...

i was also extremely annoyed at the article. But for reference, up here in the northeast state parks for camping are a shorter season than most regular campgrounds and are all closed for winter.

Well, you learn something every day (hopefully). Did not know that. We must be lucky in Texas, at least in what we call euphemistically Winter down here. All state parks are open for the most part. We were just out this past weekend and though we had 40 mph winds at times, the weather was pretty nice.

You are lucky. RV camping ends here on 10/31 and won't resume until after March or April in some places. This is what RV life looks like up here:

Oh man, we don't even winterize. If it is going to get below 32, I just turn on the tank heaters and put a couple of space heaters near pipes and leave the furnace set to about 50F. We burn some propane but so far, not a problem.

We did have snow a couple of weeks back but it did not stay around. Nice to watch but nothing on the ground. We have an opposite problem. It is typically too hot to camp in July and August. RV air conditioning can only drop the temp about 20 degrees and when it is 108 outside, that makes for an uncomfortable visit!

The internet is now full of people making videos that know little about what they are doing. They are enthused and full of excitement because it is all so brand new.

It is not that hard to identify these people and ignore them.

Everybody's an authority now ppine. The internet has given a pulpit to every lunatic and mental defective in the country! It's like reading Amazon reviews. You have to separate the wheat from the chaff.

Like they say. As soon as someone's finger goes thru the toilet paper, They suddenly become an expert on it.

Actually Bob, that DISQUALIFIES the owner of the stinky finger from being an expert. I'd be more inclined to trust the expertise of the owner of the clean hands who doesn't skimp on toilet paper and bunches it up in an effective wad.

But that's how Mr. Philly Vanlife becaame an expert: by doing it once, doing it wrong, and deciding it wasn't for him.

I don't think the point was to become an expert. I think the point was to generate content to write articles about. Which is exactly what he did.
