anyone a member of Passport America if so, is it worth the membership? Any issues trying to us the PA membership at campgrounds? The only membership we have is KOA. Trying find additional ways to save some $$. any comments would be helpful.

Yes a Member for a long time, we normally recoup our $ the first two times of use every year! 5o% off is a Deal! Youroo!!

We think it is worth. Since we are new to this we have joined many "groups" as we learn. PA paid for itself quickly.

We used it about about 11 days this year at 3 different campgrounds, now it's not like that every year. I also received a email from FROG just today with a Passport offer like buy one year get one free but deleted it as we already have a membership, maybe someone could share it with you.

We have Passport America for many years now and we love it. But we camp off-season and never on weekends or holidays. So it works for us.
But if you can only camp on weekends and holidays or in summer, it's not worth joining.

Passport America is the one I've kept, going into my 5th year of full timing. One stop I make near Kingman, AZ gives you 3 days on the PA rate....so I take advantage and stay, do laundry, shop in Kingman, etc. It is available all year, every day. That one stop pays for the membership, and there are always deals coming up for buy 2 years, get the 3rd one free or something like that. Another place I stay gives 2 weeks (14 days) at the PA rate, all year, every day!

There are some parks that are very restrictive so it's almost a joke that they advertise the PA discount. The PA website is the best for researching the park rules.

We found that most of the RV parks in our normal travel area that take PA are not parks we would choose to stay at. Most were run down and lacking. Others have many restrictions and hurdles you have to jump through to be able to use it. We kept the membership for a few years and decided it wasn't working for us.
The only ones we keep now for discounts are Good Sam and AARP.

This is almost exactly our experience, except we didn’t even renew PA after the first year. We tried to use the PA discounts, but the campgrounds in our case were really bad and/or the restrictions made it unusable for the time we wanted to be there. Instead we get what ever discount we can get from Good Sam and AARP, plus we take advantage of senior discounts at state parks, and Lifetime Pass discounts at federal parks.

We prefer to stay in state, national forest/park, and COE campgrounds anyway because we prefer more spacing than what private campgrounds typically provide.

Had it for several years now. It works for some and not for others. I've never lost money with the membership. Yes there are restrictions but hen traveling and I can get a full hook up site for 25 bucks or less I'll take it. I just renewed for 44 dollars and got a year free. Doesn't take long to recoup your money. The comments are correct, if all you do is weekends and holidays it's probably not for you.

We have been members for the past 8 years. We have used it probably an average of 40 plus nights a year. We travel from coast to coast and have several Passport America parks we would not miss each year that are our favorites of the whole trip. It has saved us a boat load of money. It is like most anything else you have to pick and choose. I would guess 2/3 of the campgrounds we stayed in were what we called overnight parks. They were no frill parks that were great for what they were meant for. They provided us a cheap safe stopping place to spend the night with full hookups. They were not where I would want to vacation for a week but that was not why I was stopping there. A large number of the parks only let you stay one or two nights at the reduced rate. About a third of the time you will run across a park that is extra nice or extra helpful / friendly. Some will allow you to stay two weeks or even longer.

Had a PA 90 day free trial several years ago. Decided to use it on a trip outside. Rules, rules and exceptions. Rates good one day, but not the next. Too tedious to manage. Found out we could get "everyday" discounts everyday using AARP or Veteran's status. Some CG's gave both! We 86'd PA.
