It was a confusing trip. Phoenix to Lafayette, La, to Syracuse, NY, to Cleveland, OH, to Scranton, Pa, to West Palm Beach, Fl, to Phoenix.

I can't remember what I had for lunch yesterday! Again, sorry for any confusion I may have caused. Lesson? Don't follow me.

I go out I-30 often east of Dallas. I live 35 miles west of Ft. Worth and west of where I-30 begins as a split-off of I-20. I purposely stay on I-20 through the Metroplex both going and coming back. I have to hit 635 on the east side of Dallas to get back to I-30 but it's so much better... so I don't think you'll have that much problem. As said before if you can hit it before or after rush hour you'll be much happier. I-20 is pretty boring but there's a super nice RV park in Van Horn (Mountain View if I remember). I got stuck there by winter weather to the east last time I came back from Queen Creek, AZ. It was clean and very well maintained. Enjoy your trip!

Trip out west almost done

First off thanks to all the replies on my question is US20 west a good route to take. My experience over that past 4 days is YES!!! None to nearly none construction on the west bound lanes. Only thing we saw was a small narrowing to work on a bridge but rest of the trip was fine. Road conditions were near perfect. A bit of rain but other than that not much weather delays.

It was our first trip through West Texas and the sights around Midland and Odessa were awe inspiring. The number of working wells was astounding. The value and amount of new well equipment prob is in the billions of dollars. The engine of the US is clearly evident there. I loved it.

We had to use LQ's due to over packing of RV from the house sale and move but they were all good and I recommend them above all due to pet friendly and breakfasts. One more short trip to Phoenix from Tucson tomorrow and we are done. The Sunseeker pulled our Equinox like a champ. Got nearly 8pg through most of the trip and both vehicles will enjoy being in AZ. Thanks Patrick

Glad you liked the route. I am following it all the way to California in two weeks.

If you thought Midland/Odessa was interesting, you should have seen it about 4 years ago. At night the drilling rigs looked like a forest of Christmas Trees, lights and all. Unfortunately, the motel and rv park prices reflected the high level of activity. Motel 6 was going for $289 a night. RV parks weren't much better.
