I've made the trek across the country on/near I10 a couple of times now- in January 2016 and then again this past September-December 2017. In 2016, we stuck to it much more than we did in 2017 where we were meandering more.
But, here's an idea of the path we took.
January 2016:
- Oasis RV Park at Aztec Hills in Dateland, AZ
- Harvest Hosts location in Elgin, AZ (228 miles)
- Lordsburg KOA in Lordsburg, NM (149 miles)
- Hacienda RV in Las Cruces, NM (118 miles)
- Desert Willow in Van Horn, TX (165 miles)
- Caverns of Sonora in Sonora, TX (259 miles)
- Oak Forest in Austin, TX (221 miles)
- Rayford Crossing in Spring, TX ( miles)
- Pioneer Acadian Village in Lafayette, LA ( miles)
In September - November 2017:
- Zuni Village RV Park in Kingman, AZ
- OK RV Park in Holbrook, AZ (235 miles)
- High Desert RV Park in Albuquerque, NM (222 miles)
- Balloon Fiesta RV Parking in Albuquerque, NM (19 miles)
- Twin Pine RV Park in Slaton, TX (346 miles)
- Harvest Hosts location in Lometa, TX (282 miles)
- La Hacienda in Austin, TX (82 miles)
- Lake Conroe in Houston, TX (172 miles)
- Dellanera RV Park in Galveston, TX (104 miles)
- Poche's Fish & RV Park in Lafayette, LA (261 miles)
- New Orleans West KOA in New Orleans, LA (119 miles)
Dateland was really cool. Middle of nowhere, but great park and friendly people.
Caverns of Sonora were actually pretty neat. I've never been in a cavern before that is 80-degrees all the time.
Throwing in Harvest Hosts to the mix doesn't always make for shorter days or less expensive stays, but the grounds are usually beautiful and it's nice quiet solitude at night.
Dessert Willow has the prize for the cheapest of the stays at $12.50/night. But the water was turned off while we were there. We carry water in our tank all of the time, so it wasn't a problem.
