TV options

Except for the past (Covid) year, we usually spend 5-6 months on the road. We used to be able to stream our Direct TV on our devices (iPads/computers) but the Direct TV App no longer works. I've been researching YouTube TV and Hulu but they require a checkin at the home wifi every - 30 days for Hulu and 90 days for YouTube. I'm looking for options that others may be utilizing. Should we go with Dish? They are (supposedly) RV friendly, I've heard.

PLEASE refrain from the, "Turn it off" remarks. We don't sit in front of the TV all day, but we like the ability to tune in on rainy days, or just for downtime.

We put a Dish system in our class A and have been pleased with it. We do "pay as you go" with no issues. The RV park we're at now has limited WiFi so no smart TV. It's either "local" over the air or Dish. Nice to have the option.

We have Dish at home and we use the Dish Anywhere app to access our dvr at home. We use our phones as hotspots or Wi-Fi if if it's good.
No satellite dish and coax to fool with. Of course it requires a smart tv.

We use Dish and have the small reciever and King dome sattelite. We used it all last summer when we were in an RV resort as their cable programming wasn't the best.

This is confusing to me as I am watching DirecTV on my mobile app as I type this. It works perfectly fine. We just returned form a 3.5 month trip to FL where it worked flawlessly from mid-December to now. We also use it to stream shows recorded on our home DirecTV DVR.

With YouTube TV, you do need to check in to your account every 90 days from your home area. I have YouTube TV and have proven this several times on longer trips. After 90 days it will lock you out.

We also have an Amazon Firestick (we are prime members) and get a lot of content from apps on the Firestick.

Of course, any of the streaming methods require a solid broadband internet connection that many campgrounds cannot handle. Please do not be 'that guy' that tries to stream on the campground WIFI making it impossible for others to even have internet.

If the campground has an option for added bandwidth (for a fee) then that's fine, buy it and stream away. Otherwise you'll need a good coverage mobile plan with unlimited data. An hours worth of video can eat up somewhere between 2-4 GB depending on video quality.

You might want to look into using a VPN.

I am surprised that the app is working for you! I won't for us and when we called, Direct TV said they weren't supporting the app any longer. We were able to watch some programs from our DVR, but they would not delete from the app and we filled up. I got the impression that Direct TV (AT&T) weren't gonna play with traveling usage any longer. Maybe it's worth another phone call...
Thanks!
