Upcoming Travels for April - Santa Fe, Oklahoma City, and Denver
Our travels have us running east and then making a hard left turn to head north and west again. Yes, I've seen a map. No, I don't recommend this kind of zany trip planning for anyone.
But in the month of April, we'll be in Sante Fe for a week (boondocking, Caja Del Rio Dispersed Camping), outside of Oklahoma City for about 2 weeks (moochdocking), and then up to Denver for a week (Cherry Creek State Park).
I'd love to catch up if anyone is in these areas!

Cherry Creek State Park is nice but it is very close to the Denver Tech Center. I would avoid I-25 and I-225 between 6:00am and 10:00am and 3:00pm and 6:30pm weekdays.

Thanks for the tip! We last lived in Orlando and the DC metro area, so traffic... sigh, yeah. 
I was hoping to boondock in Denver but didn't find many good places that I wanted to sign up for.

Chatfield SP is on the SW side of Denver, but still close to everything including traffic. When we lived in Colorado Springs, we often went to Chatfield for 1-2 nights just to go camping. I thought the D loop sites were the nicest.

You should try to get up the Rio Grande Gorge in Toas or Questa. It's worth the trip to see it. Can you can access the road in Cerro, a little framing community to the north. There is camping back in there.

So my travels have started...
We left Big Water, UT on April 1st and headed towards Farmington, NM. I had heard "not great" things about that area. I picked a casino that I had found on one of the apps (Campendium/iOverlander/RV Parky ... honestly I have no idea which one). But I also wanted to get further on down the road. The problem is, traveling east/south on Rt. 550, there's freaking nothing. It's a bit of a no-man's land.
I ended up finding a spot on iOverlander at the Continental Divide marker. It's only really accessible from the eastbound direction. There's a truck rest/pull off. But off of that is a cattle guard to some public grazing allotment land and a cell tower. You can park close to the highway or you can drive back a dirt road into the trees.
Getting at 8:30pm, we pulled into the truck pull-off and I grabbed a flashlight to get check the area just on the other side of the cattle guard. I found a nice big area that I would be able to get turned around with towing the truck. Sweet! We pulled in there and found a quite level spot.
It wasn't quiet. But fortunately, we run our A/C fan all night and it drowned out the noise of the highway. Even that, the highway quieted down around midnight with just the stray car here or there.
As well, be wary if you come when it's wet. The dried ruts make it looks like it might be a bit sporting when muddy.
The truck pull-off area had a lot of garbage bags that were clearly tossed out of trucks as evidenced by the plethora of piss bottles.

We landed in Santa Fe, NM last weekend. We're parked in a boondocking area that we're pretty spread out. A few dilapidated setups that either look abandoned or just some folks living a rough life. Been here for a few days and no one has messed with my outside stuff.
We went into Meow Wolf on Wednesday. It sadly didn't live up to the hype that I had hoped for.
We'll find something to do on Saturday and then roll out on Sunday! Next up, quick 2 nights near Amarillo and then Oklahoma City for almost 2 weeks.

It's been good. Each stop has had a purpose, even if they're not always very scenic.

We didn't get out, other than walking around the "park". It was a nice 2 night stay. We didn't even unhitch the truck from the camper.
Now we're at a friend's property in Guthrie, OK. 50amp + full hookups! WOOT! We haven't been plugged into electric in a month. And have only had hookups for about a week since Feb 20.

This spring the cold weather continues.
I just returned from the Foothills of the Sierra near Jackson, CA. We were at 2,600 feet and came home early because of the cool weather.

So, plans changed- too tired of moving fast and too expensive to keep it up. Not heading to Denver afterall. Just cancelled my reservation at Cherry Creek State Park.
Now we leave here on Sunday and then... yeah, not sure where we're headed. Possible options are:
Page/Kanab/Zion again for a longer stay with an option to hit Monument Valley.
Or back to Sedona again with an option to hit Monument Valley or Carlsbad or the Grand Canyon again (if the snow has cleared at all, I want to hike to the bottom).
OR some other unknown option at this point between here and Palm Springs, CA by June.
So fun times.
