Oh my... Please tell me you're already planning on walking the Watkins Glen State Park Gorge? It is truly a wonderful experience... MUST go up, not down. The views going up, as you approach each one, are worth the extra effort (just go slow and take lots of pictures.... Many upon many breathtaking views, in my opinion. There's a bus at the top to return you to the bottom.

Go up the gorge. You will kick yourself if you don't and then see pictures late. the pictures don't do it justice. There are some neat waterfalls around the area too.

Watkins Glen International racetrack is up the hill. If the track is open you might get the Watkins Glen alarm clock. When we have been there the track must open at 8:00. The volume of the alarm clock depends on what kinds of cars are on the track.

if you decide to stay at the state park ..you may definately hear some of the track noise .. but not alot .. we stayed there last September. For a hoot .. at around noon ... you can take your tow vehicle out on the track for four laps following a pace truck tho ... but im sure you wont catch this dude .. he is a bit of a maniac.

lots of fun .. and good fishing in the hills ..nice dedicated trout streams in the area.

If you are not up for going up the 1300 steps of the glen, you can take a bus to the top for a few bucks a person and then come down. Take a boat cruise, go to a wine tasting, grab some fried chicken at Mr. Chicken (right at the park entrance). The track is also a great time. We stayed in the state park in the mohawk loop.. the only electric sites in the park.

I also recommend the gorge! Beautiful picture opportunities. The wineries around the lake are phenomenal and if you are into it there may be something going on at the speedway, I have driven on that track many times and it's a blast! I also stayed at the KOA there a few years back and remember it being nice. Enjoy!

Rooster Fish Brewery has a great place on main street. They brew great beer and the food is fantastic. Right on main street on the left as you head towards the lake.

Don't forget your bathing suit. KOA has beautiful indoor pool . Most other points of interest have been covered. Gorge is spectacular as others have mentioned.

Beautiful area, in September they have an old car race well not really a race people take their antique cars and race trough the streets following the original race from Watkins Glen.
It was really fun watching them and looking at them after they were finished. As others have said some of the finest winery's in the state.

Don't Forget the FROG Rally at Watkins Glenn in July!

DW and I (along with some high school friends) will be there with any luck at all!
