Newmar motor homes in Elkhart ,In. Great tour .Free also. They give 2 a day {as of 3 years ago}.We got lucky and they were building 5 that day so we had a chance to see each step. They only build when they have orders. Also was able to see finished product and tour some new models. Also real lucky as there were 4 in our party and we had the whole tour to ourselves.

If you find yourself in York, PA. Go tour the Harley Davidson plant. Even if you don't like or ride motorcycles, it is a piece of American history. Also go to the Corvette plant in Bowlin Green, KY. It is very interesting. Plus they have the Corvette Museum there.

My favorite tour was Bureau of Engraving and Printing in Fort Worth Tx. Nothing like dreaming over pallets and pallets of 100$ bills!

2 locations are Pendleton, OR. and Washougal, Wa.

Ladies will love the factory stores where they can buy discounted wool to make their pretty things and guys like me find the machinery and process very interesting.

The Tillamook Cheese factory, Dynamax Motorhome.
Also, I used to work for a company that made factory automation equipment (robotics) and did a lot of the installs. Our projects were typically just one small portion of an assembly line process, but we usually got a tour of the whole factory sometime during our stay on site. Several silicone wafer plants, a couple of solar panel sites, hard disk drives, ink jet pens, automotive voltage regulators and distributors, 'some' of the Stinger Missile plant.

Most of my career was developing/maintaining commercial insurance programs for businesses. In connection with my job I toured Carlisle Tire (Carlisle, PA), Ithaca Gun Company (Ithaca, NY), various hydro and co-generation plants, commercial laundries, large pump manufacturers and many, many others. Retired from that in 2005 so its been quite awhile.

Toured Rockwood in 2015. Was surprised to see how fast all the workers ran and worked. Came to understand that was why some many new units have quality issues. To much rush to have good qc.

Toured Forester earlier this month. The workers were all at the frog rally and no work was being done. But we got to see some changes in the new models.
