Where are the worst roads
Just for discussion sake and not trying to cause problems so no drama. I have just returned to Georgia from Texas. I have driven in probably 46 of the 50 states, not all in my RV but most.
Where are the worst roads, or what state has the worst roads in your opinion? For me, I dislike Louisiana interstates and state roads more than any.

I don't think any ONE state can claim the title for worst roads. In most of the states I've driven in thre seems to be equal measures of good and bad.
Even I-5/I-10 in CA, I can be driving along trying to catch the suction cup mounted items on windshield as they fall, and several miles down the road it's as smooth as can be.
City arterials and back roads can also be really good or really bad.

That's why we drive 395 when we drive to our house in Tahoe instead of I-5. Can't stand that highway. The trucks have ruined it.

In general terms, I find northerly US states to have bad roads, due to freeze/thaw cycles. Take those particular northerly states with very large metropolitan cities where rural highways outside the cities may see relatively less road repair funding, and that’s where some of your worst roads will be. Following that logic, I found secondary roads in Illinois and upstate New York to be horrible. Tennessee and North Carolina roads were amazingly great by comparison.

This is kind of like the question:
"Where is the worse place you were stationed in?"
Answer:
"The place you are in today"

South Carolina has about the lowest gasoline tax in the USA. Our roads show it. As much as I hate new taxes, I’m glad our legislature has seen the light.

I would gladly pay for good roads. It makes travel so much more enjoyable. I wish I could just send a check somewhere so that then all the roads in the country I drive on would be smooth. But that, unfortunately, is not a feasible or available option.

South Carolina has the worst roads period. I 95 was opened as a concrete roadway through the entire state in 1976 and SC has only resurfaced partial spots. You will destroy your suspension if you hit some of those holes. The entire concrete surface should be replaced and widened to 3 lanes. They can’t even finish the 526 connector.

In Shreveport, Louisiana, I 20, I 220, LA 3132, Bert Kouns Industrial Loop and all connectors. The first three are worse than
most dirt roads I have driven.

In our trip from Washington state to Maine and back - Nebraska wins the “award” = both rear wheel coverings lost and burner popped off stove top.
We also had the 12V plug to TV break about 3 times (once in Nebraska, twice in other states - finally started unplugging it when moving🤦*♂️)

I also agree that Illinois roads are pretty bad.

The 7 or 8 miles of Route 219 when you cross from PA into NY...thank God, its only 7 or 8 miles to I-86. Route 219 in PA is much better.
Of course I-80 across Indiana is pretty bad too.

Bad Roads
I would say I-20, I-220 in Louisiana. Not only are the roads bad, but lanes end w/ 300 yards of warning. It also seems to always be raining when I come through this area. I agree the further north you go, the roads seem to get worse.

I refused to drive on H/W 65 in Indiana and 465 around Indianapolis for several years. They've just recently fixed them. Just for safety right now I'd never head into Indianapolis, inside of 465 for any reason. And I live 20 miles from Indianapolis!
