After 10 years of Tents, Its time for a pop up
Hi All,
My name is Dave. My wife and I have been talking for the last 2 years that I can remember about buying a pop up. In January we pulled a trigger on a 2008 Forest River - Rockwood Freedom. So far we love it and learning the ins and outs...
Last night our nephew slept in it.. Other than he saying it was a little cold sounded like he had a good night in it. Have it hooked up via a 120 outlet right now... Just so we can learn a few things and I stumbled upon this forum and figured it could help...
Like last night we figured out since the sink was not in normal position and the king side bed was not in normal position that the roof lights would not turn on due to the switch not being in normal place...
Today im gonna see about the fridge & Exhaust fan...
Yesterday tried the fan and and it would not turn on and found a fuse while going through the fuse box so its worth a chance...
Any other things I will ask on the correct forum...

It is an easy transition from a tent to a pop-up. I had some great times in one. I really like how they can be opened up for the view and air flow. It is great to have furniture and be able to see out.
They are a little annoying for traveling and setting up and taking down each night.
They can be cold much below freezing. They are perfect for a LIttle Buddy propane heater.

Google Popup Gizmos and Reflectix. #1 mod for popups and Hybrids.

Unless things have been changed the sink has to be set up for the 12vdc to work. The purpose is so the lights are not left on when folded. The older incandescence lights get hot enough to start a fire.

You are where my wife and I were in 2010 except we had about 30 years in the tents. Tough question on the AC providing heat. Some models do and have a HEAT STRIP and so are just AC. Check the dials on your AC and if there is no mention of HEAT, likely just AC.
2nd the search popup gizmo's/Reflectix. Helps extend your camping season significantly if you can keep the cold out early and late in the year and make it tolerable during the heat of the summer.
Another tip I'll give ya is to buy one of those canvas closet organizers that has the compartments but folds up flat when not in use. Makes a great set of storage pockets for clothes, food and can be hung off the cross bars in the ceiling.
Enjoy the new camper!

welcome from Maryland. we also transitioned into a popup from a tent and are now in a hybrid. Have had great times in all camping configurations. Hope you also have great times in your popup.
I would think that the AC would not provide heat. In our 2010 popup, the AC only cooled. The furnace was separate and each had their own controls.
And yes, Popup Gizmos are so worth it.

From what i know, heat only from the furnace. Some A-frames have the Cool Cat which i believe can produce some heat.
