axle rating

I have a 2015 flagstaff 21fbs microlite. Dry weight 3865#. I added an extra battery. I was underneath the trailer and noticed that my torsion bar axles are rated at 2200# each. By the time I fill my fresh water tank and put in a toothbrush I'll be at max. Is this normal? Should I be concerned? My tires are good for 7000+#. New to the forum.

The tag on the axles is the axle manufacturer's true rating for them. However, the official load capacity of those axles will be found on the trailer's certification label. For trailers, that label is located externally, on the LH forward section of the trailer. The label also lists the GVWR, tire size and their recommended cold inflation pressures.

When you subtract the trailer manufacturer's recommended tongue weight from the GVWR the remainder is carried by the axles.

If you figure 12 to 15% tongue weight will be carried by your TV (tow vehicle) that gives you a little wiggle room. That's how the mfg's calculate the needed axle rating.
