First RV for my wife and me!
Hi all. Just wanted to make an intro post! I used to love forums for different things but it seems many of them died in favor of social media. So I was super excited to find this active forum for this new hobby my wife and I are getting into!
We've been looking at getting a camper for a few years, and after an anniversary trip to the San Juan mountains in Colorado this summer, we haven't stopped thinking about it since. So we've finally decided to pull the trigger on this dream!
We, along with our beloved golden retriever named Colorado (Rado), are anxiously awaiting the arrival of our new 2024 Cherokee Wolf Pup 16FQ to our dealer later this month. We've been soaking up all the info we can get so I'm looking forward to learning from the community here and sharing our adventures!

Hi and Welcome to FRF.
Be sure to check out the TT/5th Wheel section's Cherokee sub-forum, where most Wolf Pup owners hang out.

Congratulations! I'd recommend you pick up a small fan to circulate the air and a dog bed on the floor.
Welcome to the forum!

Welcome.
Be sure to search out Wolf Pup mods or modifications threads. LOTS of changes people did to make camping better and easier. FR wastes a lot of space behind face panels and slapped in cabinet interior panels to hide a few wires or a propane line. Moving and removing some will gain you a bunch of storage space.

Welcome!
Since it sounds like you are either in Colorado or simply love the mountains, one thing you should check first thing is if you have any issues with your water heater, refrigerator and/or furnace running above a certain altitude. Some propane refrigerators especially are limited in their altitude and do not come with adjustable burners (our Dometic for example). Whereas our water heater does OK and is adjustable. For anything but an overnight stay, we will always need an electric hookup at higher altitudes. (“Always operate the refrigerator on electric power at altitudes higher than 5,500 feet.”)

Hey there! We live in TN but yes, my wife grew up in Colorado and we love it there, so would be planning on taking a trip out there to camp sometime next year. Great info to look into! I know we have the 12V fridge so that should be good. The water heater I believe is going to be a tankless on demand gas unit, which I assume would be only gas then(?). So I hope there’s a solution for that! How about the furnace that’s powered by propane, any issues you know of with that?

The furnace is usually not a problem, but if it acts erratic you will know why. If you have electricity you can use the heat pump that most units come with now, which in RVs are good down to about 45 degrees, possibly 40 but no colder.

Welcome! My wife and I have the smaller Wolf Pup 14CC we bought last year, we've been very happy with it. One mod I'd recommend, which I'm guessing the 16FQ might benefit from too, is running a piece of tubing from the fresh water tank vent up to the vent at the filler. Ours just had an elbow fitting on the tank pointing down at the road, and because of where it was located, you couldn't fill the fresh water tank all the way. Worse, if you filled it until it overflowed, it would lose water as it tilted while you were towing it to your site. Then, if had to level it, it would keep dumping water out until you got it level. We could tell we had nowhere near the stated 29 gallons by the time we parked, because we ran out of water on our second night. Since I modified it, our water capacity has improved greatly.
Here is a link to my mods https://www.forestriverforums.com/fo...ml#post2838700.

I'd be very surprised if a Cherokee Wolf Pup came with a tankless on demand gas water heater.

Ours has one, it was new for 2023. I don't like it, wish they had stuck with the conventional variety.

Yep that's what I heard. Although they said it was a little hit and miss, as if they ran out of the tankless when manufacturing them, they'd just put the regular 6 gallon DSI ones in. Curious-- what do you prefer about those over the tankless on demand? (Assuming just that it doesn't have the option for electric like we were talking about?)
