Cool First time TT owner

Hello All;

I'm Fabian and i live in Yonkers, NY. The Wife and i are expecting out first Child and we have been tent camping since 2012. Last year i rented at 2018 FR Wolf Pup 16FQ because i was tired literally and figuratively putting up and taking down the tent and lugging everything in a cargo trailer (5X8 uhaul). Needless to say the wife was pleasantly surprised on how fast we were able to level the trailer and have the camp site set up within the hour. Well fast forward to this year and with everything going the way it is we wanted to take advantage of the (buyer market). We are looking at a used 2020 Palomino Puma XLE Lite 22RBC. Mainly for the the ability to grow in to the thing once our little man is here and we go camping.

I will be towing this with my 2015 Jeep grand Cherokee limited Ecodiesel with a Hitch capacity of 720# and max towing of 7200#. the Loaded trailer is 5800# dry is 4243# dry hitch is 435# so figuring out i'll have some wiggle room and i won't maxing out the trailer since we'll just have the Fresh water filled, battery, propane and about 200lbs of canopies mountain bike and baby stuff. at Most i'll be @ about 5000# trailer weight.

I am working with the dealer to fix some of the issues with the drawers in the kitchen and a couple of the blinds that are damaged from use. Mods i requested were an electric tongue jack, Maxx Fan, RV cover and WD htch for my truck.

i am here to learn and can't wait to share my TT Journey with you all.

Stay safe And blessed.
Fabian

Welcome to the forum and the world of RVing. Congrats on your new 2020 Palomino Puma XLE Lite 22RBC. Make sure to do a good PDI as I would be curious as to why the tt as new as it is was brought back or traded. If you want guideance for doing a PDI the forum can be fond in the library shown in the green header bar at top of page. Click on it and arrow down till you see the form. Good luck. Later RJD

Make it fun. Do not try to travel too far in a day. Stop well before dark. Make it easy and pleasant for your wife and baby and then you can keep RVing for a long time.

It was part of the rental fleet for the dealer.

Ppine is right. Pulling a TT can wear you out in a hurry. Know your limitations, and give yourself plenty of time to get to your destination. If you feel tired, pull of and take a fresh air walk, or even a short nap. It can only benefit you and your family.

Welcome from western NJ and congratulations on your baby and your camper! There are a lot of places to explore in the north east, and I’m sure you’ll enjoy it. My parents started camping when I was about 8 and they, as well as I, have been enjoying camping since.

Unless you are camping without hookups, I would suggest not traveling with a full water tank. Water adds a lot of unnecessary weight.

Enjoy!

Hey all I never updated my trip back from the dealer.

It was 4hr haul from Manhiem, PA to my house. Drove @ 65 MPH the whole way because I remembered last year we took the WolfPup to camp on the hottest day of the year and I was driving at 70 mph and the thing spiked the temp up to the last third of the heat range. At 65 it kept it at the more normal range of the temp gauge. The truck was good had enough power to maintain the steeper grades in pa and ny. On down grades the grade shifting worked well.

The brakes were set up good on the highway but in stop and go traffic I was constantly adjusting the boost and power settings to avoid lock up on the TT. I have the Teknosha P3 brake controller which the one recommended by Jeep.

They gave me the R3 recurve WD hitch which made all the difference in the towing experience, the Jeep was level and no tail wagging at all.

I was surprised at the mph was 13 and we were fighting a quartering headwind the whole time. Wind buffet from tractor trailers passing us didn't upset the rig and merging and passing power was there as well.

Overall we qre happy with this purchase, there are some things we need to address before our first camping trip.

The plate for the door latch looks like it was damaged while it was a part of the rental fleet and the tried fixing it but the 2 screws they used aren't bighting in any wood under the aluminum.

I want to add some AGM batteries, Lifepo4 are out of our price range, and solar panels so I can run the rig for my cpap at night and charge the batteries up during the day. My question it should I do 2 6v golf batteries or 2 12v 100ah ones. Amazon has the UB12100 for 179.99, the cheapest 6v is +200 /battery.
