First Time with a TT
We've done plenty of camping in the past, but usually in a cabin (and once in a tent...). But this year we took the plunge and bought used 2017 Flagstaff 21DS. It's in pretty good shape, and the original owners threw in a whole bunch of starter kit stuff and add-ons.
There were only a few broken items - the inlet for the black tank flush (they had the part in their work bin, and it was an easy fix), the dinette light didn't work, and the front exterior work light didn't work. The dinette light isn't getting power, and the work light bulb looks good - so we'll see how fixing them goes.
Our first trip beyond the driveway was to the Lincoln/Woodstock KOA (New Hampshire), about 90 minutes from home. There we discovered a few other items we needed to get, like a sewer hose extension, some pennant strings for our screen room to avoid tripping on the tie down lines, and a sunblock for the vent over the bed (since we didn't really want to get up at 0430 with the sun). All in all, though, everything went well. We'll be taking a longer trip next month. When we were cleaning up at home, we found two insulated vent inserts that work perfectly for blocking the sun!
The two customizations we're looking at are (a) making the switches for the bed lights and awning lights dimmable, and (b) modifying the end pieces on the dinette so they don't get hit when we slide into the seats.
So, there you have it - glad we found the forum!

Some people use pool noodles for their tie-downs.

Congrats on your 21DS. We had the same issue with dinette light and front exterior light. They operate on the same fuse. The wiring runs under the slide and up the slide wall. When the slide was deployed it wore the insulation off the wire and would trip the fuse. Check your fuses, chances are you have a blown 15 amp fuse which controls those lights. Replace the fuse and run the slide out and back in and see if the fuse holds. If not you have a bare wire causing the fuse to blow. Fortunately our 21DS was under warranty so I let the dealership fix it.
Enjoy you new TT.

Sure enough, there's a spot labeled "S/O - Hitch", with a burned out fuse. Looking at the visible wires, I see no damage, so the short must be in the wall of the slide-out. Since the original owner added the slide-out cover, I suspect one of the mounting screws may have caused the problem.
But, no worries. On our maiden voyage there was plenty of light, and the hitch jack itself has a light. We'll address this after we get back from our next trip.
