Forest River newb here

Life long campers, new to our 23 Solaire.
Grew up camping in Indiana and still reside there. Bought a 2018 Coleman from our son after he wanted to sell after one year. He won’t admit it but after us using it for 4 more years…. I had it with all the problems. Was well impressed with the Palomino at least on the sales lot.
I thought I was pretty smart dude, but even after a quick rundown on the unit at the dealer…I’m at a loss on the water control panel. 90% of the time we fill our water tanks and pump from them while camping, but cannot figure out which valve configuration to use. Can post a pic of the panel if I can figure out the pics file on here
BTW we did Not receive an owners manual and I’ve searched on here and the internet for answers with no luck

Hi and Welcome to FRF.
Suggest that you also post which Solaire model number you have.
Then look for threads in the Palomino sub-forum, on your model number.

What is it your son won’t admit?

Regarding pics: open your recently received Welcome PM, click on the link to Forums 101 and follow the instructions in post #7 of that thread for posting pics.

Thanks for introducing yourselves in the Welcome Mat sub-forum. For technical issues, please post them in the appropriate technical sub-forum.

If you're on a computer, when you post a thread, click on the paperclip at the top of the reply box (next to the smiley face), then when the pop up box appears, find the picture on your hard drive and add the picture.

A picture will help us determine how your valves should be set, or you could call the dealer and have them walk you through it.

Welcome to the forum!

One of the best collection of manuals, maybe yours. Great looking unit. Hope it helps, search for individual parts if not

The dealer is going on outdated information.
In the past year or so, Forest River has been making an effort to get more information on their products to the consumers. More manuals and online videos are being produced for different product lines.

I wonder if this is being encouraged by the "right to repair laws" passed or pending at state/fed levels?

Not likely. I follow this area and RVs have not been part of the discussion. Primary areas, of course, are sealed cellphones and tablets, automotive, and high-end farm equipment.

When it hits "automotive" expect it to spread to RV's considering many have an automotive chassis.

Before I retired I did battle with a large manufacturer of equipment we purchased for our stores. They wouldn't release repair/service information but you'd be surprised how quickly they did when a certain customer applied some pressure by just not buying that equipment for 6 months (several millions worth).

There is similar consumer pressure working today in the various houses of gov. Eventually anyone who wants the info to repair their own "anything" will be able to get it.

Remember how all elevtronic devices used to have a schematic inside the case or a "Sam's Manual" available for purchase?

I do. Used those Sams manuals many times.

Camperdude, just nice to find help for you in welcome mat, . Manufacturer books guides and manuals and dealer's communication gave rise to owner forums. Suggest listing components of yours and then printing them for future reference. Some rv's are getting so programmed in controls.
Rider and Beitman helped with halicrafter but that is other forum.

You should be getting low on snow, enjoy the new unit.

I am a life long camper. Happy to hear you are fed up with the Colman Camper. I bought one from Camping World and got rid of it in one year after many problems to mention. Maybe that is why your son won't mention anything about it. For your information, I bought one from my local dealer and very happy with my new unit.

Yep, the Coleman brand of trailers were an exclusive clone brand for Camping World. They were clones of a particular line from Thor Industries' Dutchmen division, I believe.
