Fridge Fan 2011 Salem

Does anyone know why the fan for our fridge would continue to run even when the fridge is turned off.It is in a Salem 30kqbss and I have to take the fuse that is in the line to the fan out to stop it.

If the fan is behind the fridge, it is controlled by a temp sensor on outside the fins. When the fins get hot, the sensor closes, and the fan runs. When they cool, it shuts the fan off. If you have the fridge on, and the fan is running, and you turn the fridge off, don't expect the fan to quit immediately. It will have to wait for the fins to cool and the control switch to open, thus turning the fan off. Could take up to an hour, depending on outside temp.

Thanks for the info, but if there is a sensor it must be broken because the fan will sometimes run for days after you turn the fridge off. That is why I took the fuse out.Do you know if the sensor also senses humidity. It has been very humid and hazy this year where we live and that could explain it if it tries to get the moisture out to prevent mold growth.
