Going Mobile

My girlfriend/business partner and I have recently picked up a 2017 34’ Flagstaff V-Lite TT. We specifically chose the 2017 model as we preferred it to the 2018 offerings. We plan to use this as a mobile office and base camp as we explore North America. We travel internationally extensively for work and we are excited by the prospect of exploring and visiting family and friends around the country and then heading to a nearby airport and fly out for our clients as needed.

We purposely chose our RV fist and now we are choosing the right tow vehicle for our trip.

We can see that this Forest River community is strong and vibrant and we are glad to now be a part of it.

Let’s go explore!

“Everyone dies but few every live.”

Welcome! I have a few friends who do exactly that- travel in between work trips and just make sure that they can get to an airport. One family has been traveling for 8 years now doing it; another for 3 or 4.

Have fun out there!

Welcome ClarkT. You done good getting the trailer first. And like you said, you can now be sure and get the right truck to pull it. Do you have any ideas yet? You will get lots of advice here, as you will see if you explore the site. So please get the numbers from your trailer, post 'em up, and let the advicing begin!

Again, welcome.

For 4 years I had a 34' Windjammer trailer and pulled it with a 1500 Chevy. While the truck did OK on flatter highways the truck struggled out west and in the northeast where there are steeper grades on the highways. Also I had to limit the stuff put in the truck bed when the trailer was attached due to payload limits. I would suggest a 3/4 ton truck, gas or diesel is up to you.

Thanks for that feedback. It’s really helpful. We are probably going to end up in a 2 series vehicle at least for the reasons you mentioned.
