Gooseneck hookup

Beware of hooking up gooseneck in freezing weather. The part inside recepter froze. We did not realize it. Traveling on the RV came unhooked. My hubby heard the
thump. It slid back and hit the tailgate. Did not release entirely from pkup bed. We were fortunate it did not bounce off.
We were able to hook ot back on and get home. It did $7000.00 worth of damage.
God was watching over us

Your safety chains did not stop it from hitting the tail gate?

Was this an actual gooseneck hitch or a more common 5th wheel hitch?

Wow sorry to hear that. What gooseneck was it? Was it an adapter?
