Just want to introduce ourselves. We are Joe and Valerie, with Shadow, a happy puppy. We are a bit different as we are living full time in a newly purchased Cedar Creek 388RK after our house burned. We wanted to be on site while we are rebuilding. As long time boaters the space is not an issue. We are a bit concerned about wintering over in the NC mountains as we have no idea how the piping is protected. Time will tell.

welcome to the forum its a great place to get your questions answered. Put some sort of skirting around your rig now before the cold sets in hookup a heated water line and protect your sewer line have the gas company install a large>400 lb propane and then sit back and enjoy the winter.

Sorry to hear about the house fire but welcome to the forums. Hopefully your RV will be like a smaller temporary second home while you keep eyes on everything.

Shadow is a great name for a fur baby.
Great choice for "Living within my means" and camping for one...

If you are hooked to city water/well water and have either public or private sewer you should trickle the water (both hot and cold) when very cold to help prevent freezing the lines. The addition of a heated hose & skirting will definitely help.

Wintering over in a closed up anything calls for the addition of a good dehumidifier and a bit of ventilation. Cooking with propane and just breathing will build up humidity which could result in mold.

I wintered over at the MD/VA line one year in an older rig and did well while many fellow campers had a few problems.
