Welcome & enjoy...probably one of the most important issues we all have with our campers are TIRES...whatever you do, always keep a close eye on them...before/during/after trips!

Welcome- I am a strong advocate for doing walk-around inspections (pre-present-post) while on the road. Don't forget, when you do your walk-arounds, look up! You'd be surprised at the people I watch from a distance do their walk-arounds (if they do one) and never pick their chin up off the ground. Tire pressures-HUGE, check inside sidewall too. And as for the walk-arounds, establish YOUR way of doing it and stick with the same order and your not as apt to forget anything (I would advise a written guide for your first several trips however). Make yourself up a 'survival' box- tie-wraps, duct tape, mechanic's wire, hose clamps, etc for road side repairs. And the list goes on.....and on......

Glad to help---there are a lot of people on here that will contribute their opinions based on their experience(s). It can be quite overwhelming sometimes, but you'll be fine. Don't hesitate to fall back on us for advice.

Welcome to the Forum - I was in your shoes a couple months back. The folks here have helped more than I can tell you.
CHOCK FIRST!
UNCHOCK LAST.
My rule of thumb is that just when you think you are ready to roll, stop and think. More often than not, you forgot to do something.
Enjoy!

Before we leave - my wife and I both do a walk around the camper. We look high and low for things we may have missed. Once I found a tennis ball size bubble on a tire. Fortunately, that's it.
At every stop (gas, potty, etc.) - I glance at the hitch to make sure everything is still latched and clipped and whatnot.

Yea I've never had a fifth wheel camper before but I have alway been a stickler for detail and I guess I have a little OCD so far we have just got to go out 3x and I bet I walk around the whole rig 4 or 5 times my worst fear is for it to come off the truck and hurt someone so check and double and sometimes triple check my hitch just to make sure it is secure. I am wondering if they make some kind of safety chains because there is none on any that I have seen

There are none. With the design of fifth wheels, they're unneeded.
However, there are "catching" devices to save your truck bed. Blue Ox Bed Saver is expensive, but it's always there and always "active". If your pin comes out of the hitch, it'll catch it. But, it's also bulky.
Another similar product is Butch's Bed Saver which is much cheaper ($50 for it vs. $250 for the Blue Ox) but it works differently. It has to be engaged each time, but in the event of a mechanical failure- it'll be there to help you.

Look at films/pictures of crushed side beds from people when camper is parked in camping spot, from people pulling out of and/or backing into the camper to hookup/unhook. Learn from Their Mistakes.
With campers/trailers, bad things can happen and when they do they will happen quickly. Vision is very poor around you when going down the road or going into/out of campgrounds. "Where did that car come from that you just cut off" and 'I never saw that limb that just ripped off my air vent and AC cover. :
When pulling out or into a 'site'/drive, know where all of your people (and everyone else) are. Have your animals/dogs... in the truck with you or in someones arms, as we all know.... 'when truck moves' it is time go some where and the VERY LAST thing you want to do is run over your dog/wife/child.
Enjoy
As as my famous brother always says "Don't Drive Like My Brother"
