Hello from Calgary, Alberta

Hello fellow Forest River enthusiasts!

My wife and I purchased a Rockwood 8288 WS last summer and absolutely love it! We get out of town every chance we get as summer is so short here in the Great White North.

Happy camping everyone!

Welcome From Hot & Humid Huntsville, Alabama!

Congrats on your Rockwood - perhaps we will meet you one day - we will be heading up to Alaska in 2018 and will be spending 4 days in Calgary in Mid May!

Thanks Bob!

Mid May !? Please ensure you bring everything you might need for that time of year in this part of the country.

Let's see... what would include: hip waders (for the possible flooding), parka and snow boots (for the snow) and Bermuda shorts (for the heat) - there, I think that should cover it

Whereabouts are you guys planning on camping when you come to Calgary?

Welcome to the Hooper family from Puget Sound, WA

The Lee family extends a hearty welcome to the Hooper family. We reached 92°F (33°C) here a few days ago. Today it's a mere 59°F (15°C). We're hoping to make it there for your Calgary Stampede one July. Of all the possible sports, rodeo is among our favorites. Enjoy the forums...there's good info here!

Welcome to the forum. Heading your way in 16 days. All that gear is packed in the 5er as usual. Starting out in Waterton then dry camping west of Rocky Mountain House and then all of August in St. Albert.

Callaway is one of only a few RV parks within the city. I guess it depends on what you want to accomplish. If you want to be in the city this will work, but the sites are fairly packed together. If you want to tour the mountains there are many more options. Farther west on highway one is Bow Valley provincial park campground which is nice. There are numerous other campgrounds within Kananaskis country as well. Banff and Canmore are nice as well. I highly recommend Jasper. You can book federal and provincial camping on line. Many provincial parks also have first come first serve sites.

Cheers

I can't comment on Callaway as we've never been out there.

I can, however, comment on Kananaskis - it is *awesome* - do a little Googling for some images from there to see what I mean.

We camp every year in Boulton Creek in Peter Lougheed Park in Kananaskis and it is absolutely incredible. We're booked for 7 days in late July.
It is bear country, however. We always pack bear spray and a marine horn, just in case.
