Hello from Ft Drum

Hello!

We JUST upgraded from a 30' Jayco TT, to a FR fifth wheel.

I've been in the Army for 19 years, and really wanted a nice rig to take a year off and drive around America. (yes we have the cheesy US States add as you go sticker thinggy) SO the wife INSISTED we had to get a bunk house, so that narrowed the playing field. Came across the 2008 -316 BHT at a price we couldn't pass up.

Picked her up on Saturday, and on the way home from our one night of camping, discovered that 'someone' didn't secure the bedroom window and it was smacking the camper and shattered. Fortunately I already started insurance, but its still a $200 repair.

Looking forward to the insight offered here! If these forums are anything like the SeaRay forums are / were (sold boat for camper cash) I'm sure I'm at the right place!

First off WELCOME and THANKS for your sevice.

You will find some GREAT people here. I also got rid of the boat (Ski Nautique) upon retirement (FT Rucker, AL) and are now in a 5th wheel. it's funny how our lifestlye changes as we get older HAHAHA.

As far as the window, was it the emergency escape window. If so I don't let the DW open it because I'm afraid it will fall out and break. I also don't have to worry about it getting closed and locked prior to leaving.

Enjoy your year off traveling, you deserve it.

Welcome, 21years 19d and 11b. Sounds like a good plan for when you get out of service. We are going to Mt. Rushmore this summer. Where do you get the map thingy?

Welcome and have a ball. I used to haunt your base when I did reserve time in the 60's when it was called Camp Drum.

Come to think of it, I sold a 24' sail boat for my first camper. Loved the sail boat but rather be camping.

Enjoy the ride!
