Hello from Georgia!

Hi folks! We have a 2005 Flagstaff 26FS. Right now, it's at the dealer, because the AC went out. It's still under warranty, so it shouldn't be too expensive. I'm also having them wash it while it's there. I splashed some mud on it the last time we went camping, and have been to lazy to wash it myself.

Hi pswayne, glad to see you joined this site also. I think this new Forest River Forums site will be very popular.

Hello PSWAYNE. Glad to see you found this site. I am trying to steer everyone on the MSN site that is interested over here. I think you will find it much easier to use and as membership grows it will be much more active than the MSN site is. It is interesting your A/C went out too. Ours went out this year and was also replaced under warranty. I got in just before it expired.

What brand of AC do you have? Mine is a Duo-Therm/Suburban. Do these have a history of going out after a couple of years?

Yep, Duo-therm. Mine is the 13K BTU. The dealer said it had corroded so badly that repairing was impossible and was able to get it replaced. Mine may have died due to inactivity since we don't get to go a lot. I have kept the new one on here at home and set at about 85 so it will cycle on and off during the day and keep things loose.

I kept mine on, set to 85, also. It gets hot here, and the AC keeps the humidity down in the trailer. I was mowing grass in the back yard, and when I shut off the mower, I heard an awful racket coming from the direction of the trailer. Ran around and got into it as fast as I could. It was the AC, and it sounded like it was trying to shake itself loose from the top of the trailer. I shut it down as fast as I could. I have no idea what it was, but I imagine the folks at the dealer will tell me.

Mine just wouldn't start this year. Took it in and they initially ordered the part that was needed to fix it. Once they got into it, the compressor assembly fell apart. Corrosion.

The campground is the North Shore Resort at Lake Oconee, Georgia (near Greensboro). We got a 1-year membership free when we bought our trailer. As it happened, my wife's son had a membership, and we bought his when our free year was up. So we can go camping there anytime. This was in February, and we practically had the place to ourselves.
Check out the place here:

My wife's son had the "platinum membership", which is good forever (so he gets it back when we kick the bucket). I think it cost a few thousand, but less than 5. They have other packages I don't know about. They also sell leases, for people that want to live there permanently, for either camp sites or park models. A number of retired folks do live there permanently. The platinum membership also allows us to use the Styx River resort in RobertsDale, AL (http://www.styxriverresort.net/). We haven't tried it yet.
One thing -- it may not the best place during the summer months, when school is out. Crowded, and lots of kids. Really nice when the kids are in school, though. And open all year.
