We have the forest River flagstaff Ultra light. 7,800 new and we are loaded at 8600 lbs now. we got weighed on a scale last week. When we looked at the specs for the 150, it seemed it could do the job...but clearly not...It can barely make it up hills and is in real trouble going down any steep grade...We are planning a cross country trip and need dependable SAFE hauling...What do you like?
Donna

Since this seems to be a 2 way conversation, I have started a PM with the OPer.

Welcome to the forum! Where in Northern CA are you all from? I grew up in Vacaville, spent 20 years in the military and settled in Colorado.
Get a Dodge 2500/3500 diesel = safe, dependable hauling capabilities!!

Hi welcome and have a great trip. I'm sure you will enjoy your cross country journey. You need a little more than a F-150 to pull a 30ft comfortable. I just picked up a F-250 with the 6.2L gas engine 2x4 and it pulls my 30ft well crosscountry. You might consider the new Ford diesel if you find a great deal. I just returned from a 2,700 mile trip.
Do you have a plan of what you want to see?
