Hello from NC.

Have done some tent camping, and in the early 90s, some camping in a pop up. We purchased a new GEO PRO 19FD on May 16. We had to take it back to dealer on June 21 due to faulty air conditioner. We get to pick it back up this Saturday, August 20. Had to cancel our first shake down trip. Looking forward to bringing it back home and start getting it equipped for future adventures. I do enjoy, and appreciate, reading about your adventures, experiences, tips, etc on this forum.

Welcome! It sat at the dealer for 2 months just to replace an AC unit? Don't let them tell you "they were waiting on the factory". That's complete BS.

Hi there form VA.

Bummer about how long it had to sit before getting fixed. I know all about that.

Enjoy the camper and the many trips ahead.

...NC

Welcome, from a fellow Tarheel! With a new RV you may be "limited" to dealer handling of issues and maintenance, but it's worth seeking out the several excellent independent RV shops here in the Old North State when possible...and, most can/will handle warranty issues, too. It just seems "normal" that dealer shops are swamped, even in off season (if there's really an off season? ). In any event, we're happy you're ready to camp and look forward to hearing of the adventure!

Dealer service dept. couldn’t determine the problem and had to trouble shoot with tech at factory. They “determined” that someone at the factory wired something wrong and shorted something out. They said factory would replace with new AC, but factory only sent new compressor. That didn’t fix the problem. Finally, they did send new AC and supposedly all is fine.

Welcome Chesley,

I'm fairly new to the forum myself, and also hail from the Carolinas, in SC near Charlotte. Nice choice of coach; I really liked the GeoPro lineup for it's streamlined profile, and the 19FBS floorplan was in my final two choices because of it's slim profile, lightweight for its size, and the sofa-in-the-slide configuration. But the DW preferred the FR 2109s for the 8' width and N/S facing bed. With the GeoPro I could have gone for a smaller truck as well.

You were right to get the coach back to the dealer and have them diagnose and repair. I once worked for a large multi-location RV dealership and I can tell you that it would not be uncommon for them to be aware of defects or other problems, ignore them until the coach sells, and then address the repairs. Maybe a form of kicking the can down the curb, I don't know.

After my weekend shakedown trip I discovered that my Dometic 2620 2-way fridge only works 1 way--electric OK, propane, no-go. So I have some diagnostic work cut out for me. I'm hoping it's something simple such as needing a new electrode wire or the thermal sensor bumped out of alignment.

Good luck with the AC and enjoy you new trailer.
