Hello from NE Florida

Hello Everyone –

We are Russ and Arlene from NE Florida (originally from eastern PA). I joined the Forest River Owners forum back in 2009 when we started to look for our first travel trailer and we were interested in the Rockwood and Flagstaff lines. At the time I owned a 2009 F150 Platinum that I thought I was going to use as a tow vehicle, but soon learned that with only 860 lbs (tread act door sticker) of payload left it wasn’t going to work. I ended up trading for a 2010 F250 PSD super cab, long bed and eventually purchased a used 39’ ball to bumper TT (SOB). We traveled with that for less than a year and I traded the TT in on a new 36’ 5th Wheel that was the same brand that our TT was. We traveled in the 5th wheel for about a 1 ½ years and as I realized that the F250 was over its GVWR (payload) we decided to sell the 5th Wheel and F250 and moved to a 2006 used 36’ Class A Diesel Pusher in April of 2014. We Loved this motorhome, managing to log over 45,000 miles on it in 5 years. Last October we decided to stop RVing and sold the Class A.

It didn’t take long to realize we missed traveling in a RV, especially missing our Disney trips to Fort Wilderness with our 3 year old grandchild. So I recently purchased a used (7000 miles on it) 2019 Ford F150 XLT, 3.5 Ecoboost, Towing Package, 7050 GVWR, and 1810 lbs of payload left, to open the door to start looking for a Travel Trailer that will fit our travel needs so we can get back traveling the way we enjoyed, in an RV.

And that brings me here, back to the Forum I joined long ago but never really became an active member. As we began looking at floorplans of different TTs, the 2020 Vibe 25RK has caught our eye, checking off a number of items we are looking for in our next RV. A key factor in our next TT is to be no longer that 30 foot and have a GVWR around 7500 (dry weight around 5300-5600). So, again looking at Forest River products has caused me to find my way back here and hopefully become more active.

So, if any of you happen to own a 25RK Vibe I’d love to here your reviews, good and bad.

Russ

PS As a side note, in 2010 I created and hosted an ‘Owners Forum’ for the brand TT and 5th wheel camper I owned back in 2010-2013. So while I hadn’t been active on this Forum, I was on that Owners Forum and still Host, Administrate and Moderate that Brand specific Forum of 14,800+ members.

Vibe 21BH

Just an update to my initial 'Welcome Mat' post. Next week we will finalize the purchase of a 2021 Vibe 21BH.

His is a change from the original Vibe (25RK) we were looking at. With the 'stay at home' time over the past few months we (DW and I) had a lot of time to really discuss what we really 'needed' in our next RV and we decided that for us in this stage of our lives and the type of traveling we'd be doing, we didn't need 'big'. But one aspect of our last year of travel in the Motorhome we miss was having our 3 1/2 year old grandson with us when we went to Disney's Fort Wilderness 2 -3 times a year. So after our discussions we decide to go small, but functional for us, and look at bunk house floorplans. We decided the Bunk beds would work well for our grandson to sleep and play in and we can use that space for carry addition 'stuff' like clothes and dry foods in containers when just we travel back to PA on extended stays to visit family and friends.

So this will be a big 'downsize' for us going from a 35' Class A DP to a 25.5 foot TT and at a max loaded weight of 7500 lbs, my F150 shouldn't labor too much.

So we are (will be next week) new Forest River owners. We are excited about the new adventures our future allows us. Just hope life gets back to something more 'normal' and less dangerous for seniors like us.

Safe Travels. Maybe our paths will cross in the future.

Russ and Arlene
