Hello from Pittsburgh
Hi all, Mike here from Pittsburgh. While not new to camping, I am new to owning an actual travel trailer. Currently I use a 6x10 cargo trailer for camping so this past weekend I decided to put a deposit down on a Rockwood Mini Lite 2506S. The 6x10 works great, but take a little while to setup. While the 2506S isn't huge, it's perfect for my wife, my dog, and I (at least I'm hoping so).
It'll be a few weeks before I actually go sign the papers and pick it up (it's on order), but figured I'd get a jump on things by joining this forum. Going to need some help choosing a Weight Distribution Hitch.
Anyway, I look forward to chatting with you all.
Mike

Welcome Mike. I'm also from the area, I am up near Cranberry in a little town called Baden that runs along the Ohio River.
For your shake down run, may I suggest a great little place called Benner's Meadow up near the Laurel Caverns. Cost is great, the people who run it are great and the area has plenty to do with historic fort, caverns, and the little river towns.

The KOA at Mercer/Grove City (literally a mile from the outlet mall) is a nice park, but is typical KOA priced.... a little more expensive.
You'll enjoy your new unit! Camping with a rolling luxury home behind you is a whole different experience from tent camping or eve using your old enclosed trailer. While we typically do not spend the day or evening inside, when it comes to cooking, showering, or hiding from storms... you will become spoiled! So far we really are enjoying the camper experience... no grass cutting, no chores at all.... just kick the brain into neutral for a few days and forget the job and the clock. Come back home and put the brain in gear and return to being who you are payed to be. That is my thing, I have a higher stress job and I enjoy turning it off.
Good luck! Oh yeah... you will be needing some form of weight distribution hitch WITH SWAY CONTROL! I had a WDH before I bought my camper last year and I assumed it would be fine. I was wrong. I never had towed a wind sail before. I ended up on Facebook Market Place and got an Equalizer (it's an upper/mid range sway control setup) for $350 and it completely eliminated that wind push/pull that makes pulling these giant boxes of air so different from pulling a piece of equipment. You have time, start watching on FB and CL and pay half price.
Larry

We make a yearly trip to Erie with our dog! Looking at camping instead of a hotel this year though. I grew up in the North Hills (near Ross Park Mall), but am now about 15 minutes East of the city.
