Hello From Southwest Louisiana

My wife and I just bought our first camper. We got it last Friday and took it to Sam Houston Jones State park the same day. We both enjoyed it very much, just she, i, and the 2 weenie dogs. This weekend we will be bringing it to the hunting lease. Any tips on camping without camper hookups, I do have a 4000k generator. My camper is a 28' Salem sport toy hauler.

Hello from Minnesota. Nice looking rig. Welcome to the forum. You will find many answers here. While we are all winterizing our units you will still be out camping. I hope to get one more weekend in but that may be pushing things. Again, welcome.

wow, sounds like you're all set - make sure everything "works", fill-up with water (plus drinking water) and with that generator you should be a-ok - enjoy.....Bill

As much as I hate those buggers, I really hate lovebugs!!!

Since you are new to trailers, I would suggest getting some walkie-talkies unless cell phones work well at the lease. Learn to use curb-side/street-side as your directional calls when backing up.

TH (toyhaulers) all usually tall. Make sure to look up and down when for clearances. If you get in a tight spot, take your time backing out of it.

YP is a great app to have on your cell phone. Helps us to find the cheapest fuel stop. If you use it with google navigator you can even get a satellite view of the gas station to check for clearances.

Find out where the dump stations are. Be sure you know how to empty your tanks.

Travel with some water onboard. The bathroom in the TH is probably better than any you will find on the road.

Put a flag in your TV (tow vehicle) when you have the antenna up.

Check to see if you have 12 volt outlets. Some THs don't any and they can be quite handy for fans and portable lights.

Battery powered drill for the stabilizers.

I would get a wheel lock. It really stops the trailer from moving. Have more leveling bricks than you need.

Run your fuel pump monthly as a test.
