Hello from Texas

Hello, we are fairly new to RVing and have enjoyed it so far and wanted to join the group and hopefully meet some new people around Texas and the US while enjoying the outdoors. We have a new Tandara 321rl-ok fifth wheel and tow is with my new Silverado 2500hd. We are from Fort Worth, Texas and have started exploring around our area and hope to start venturing out to other states. Any great spots you would recommend or ones to avoid would be helpful! Safe travels and hope to meet some of other members along the way.

Welcome from Upstate NY. Lots of great info here!

Visit Palo Duro Canyon State Park in the TX panhandle. It is a sight to see!

Welcome from down the road a bit (just north of Houston). You might want to try out Garner State Park, close to Uvalde. The Frio River is pretty awesome. There's a neat trail through the park. And you can visit the bat cave and watch millions of bats fly out for their nightly hunting. Truly an awesome site to see. That's just one of many places, but it was one of our better weekends. Again, welcome, and hope to see you down the road!

Lots of great state parks and Corp of Engineers camps in Texas. We also enjoy National Parks and Historical Sites.

Hi Ed & Sharon, I notice your location shows Roman Forest. I built two new large schools near there over the last couple of years. I managed the new ILTEXAS Middle Schools that opened this week and this time last year!

We are heading to east Texas soon. Lake of the Pines for Labor Day to get away from the metroplex

I had to look up ILTexas (International Leadership). Since all my kids have been out of school for many years, and my grandkids go to school in San Antonio, I don't really keep up much with school stuff. I did see where these schools are though. Very close to me, but across the river (East San Jacinto). Pretty cool.

I lived in East Texas for a few years, and graduated from Grand Saline HS. For a while, we delivered bait and tackle to many of the lakes in East Texas. Lake O' The Pines was always my favorite lake. (Tawakoni was too, but from what I've seen, it has become too crowded with development. It looks like Dallas has nearly engulfed it!!) Just awesome country there, even if it does get a bit cooler there in the winter. We looked at some lad there a few years back, but never found anything we could make happen. I still wouldn't mind living there, but that would take us further from the kids, and my wife probably wouldn't go for that, especially now.

Anyway, keep us posted of the great getaway. Have fun!
