Hello from Upstate NY

We just picked up the new 26RR and are on the way home. The dealer was great of explaining everything about the unit. We are now almost home. Very easy to tow and we look forward to taking it out camping very soon.

Welcome to the forum. We just got ours this past Labor Day. We're in Upstate NY too, and headed to some state campgrounds (Green Lakes and Letchworth) for a 10 day trip in a few weeks!

Thank you!
On June 20th, we are planning our first weekend camping trip some place on Lake Ontario. After that our plan is to take a 2 weeks vacation to Glacier NP bringing the bike. Maybe we will be weekend neighbors at the CG some time down the road😄
Regards,
J & C.

LaxRef93-Letchworth is a lovely area, especially if you like to hike. Many of the trails start and end right in the camping loops. They have ratings from easy to hard. Make time to travel to Middle Falls at night. They are lit up nicely. My family also enjoys the white water rafting if the river is high enough (over 9 feet I think).
Johnvig-We live near the southern shore of Lake Ontario. Where will you be camping? (I know it's a long shoreline.) We have lots of nice campgrounds in the area.

Red face

We talked with our nephew and will be up to the Thousand Island KOA for the first trip on 5/19/15. Next will try Lake Ontario by end of June to get used to the camper before heading out West. We were looking at places next to the Chimney Pluffs, but have not booked anything yet. We are new with everything so get a lot to learn from you guys. Do you haul the motorcycle? How do you protect the floor?
Any advice is appreciated.

Regards

J & C

John, you do know that the Thousand Island KOA is on an island in Henderson Harbor, right? If you get a spot on the west side of the park you'll be looking straight down the length of Lake Ontario. There is Lake Bluff RV park on the road that leads to Chimney Bluff (no RV spots at Chimney Bluff state park). I've stayed at Lake Bluff park and the park is just OK, nothing exceptional either good or bad.

P.S. I think you mean 6/19 since today is 6/8?

Yes I meant 6/19. Thanks for the tip. We will try the West side of the park.
We are trying to book a week in Kalispell, MT. We will be towing our BMW 1600GTL. Do you know how do we find out which sites that allow motorcycles?

Thanks,
J & C

Thousand Island KOA is in Ontario at Ivy Lea. It is in the 1000 Island region. The park in Henderson is 1000 Islands/Association KOA. The name 1000 Island is deceiving because they are in Lake Ontario and not in the 1000 Islands.

That view from Eastern Lake Ontario consistently rates in the top 10 of national sunset views.
We were camped last week at Southwick SP (just south of Henderson Harbor), electric hook up section. Dry camping is available right on the water if you can score a spot.
Congratulations on the new camper; enjoy.

I live just 30 minutes from the Thousand Island bridge, Kring Point is a great park with lots of views of the river, Ceder Point another great park on the river along with Jacques Cartier. If you don't care about river views Wellesley Island is a nice park. Let me know how the KOA is there been by it many times on trips to Kingston taking the old route. Don't forget to see Fort Henry Kingston about 20 min from your park and the casino is only 10 min at Gananoque. Any way about it you can't go wrong camping in this area.

Further up the St. Lawrence is Coles Creek SP which we like a lot. Never get tired of watching the big ships. In our tenting days Wellesley was our favorite spot in the world. Walk-in sites right on the river.
You are so right. You can't go wrong in that area.

Sorry I left that and Robert Moses out , if you really like seeing the ships go to a is.boatnerd.com and you will be able to know when they are coming by where you are on the River
