Hello from Virginia
Hello, been lurking for a while. I just got done typing my introduction and don't know what I hit, but lost it all. I will redo it again latter. I have already learned a lot just reading. So far, it seems if you have a problem, someone else has already gone through with the same thing.
I am going to try again with my introduction. Let's see if I can get it done without hitting any wrong keys.
We have been RVing since 2015, although while stationed in England (twice) we tent camped for two years while I was racing (93-94). We even camped at the Belgian Grand Prix Circuit. And in the 60s I camped a lot.
In 2015 we bought a new White Water Retro. Had no problems with it other than being small. So in 2017 we bought a new KZ Connect, only problem with it was the sky lights. The mounting screws had been over tightened and they cracked. Could have taken in for warranty, but we all know how that goes. I ordered thicker, smoked ones and replaced them myself. No more leaks. The Connect was a good trailer but after a 3 month trip and many trips to the laundry mat, DW wanted something with a washer.
About the 3 month trip. Left Virginia 6 August 2018 and got back home 12 November 2018. Three weeks in Kentucky, a week each in Ohio and Michigan. Then over to Illinois to start Route 66. Went all the way to Santa Monica Pier and saw all the sights along the way. I put 11,450 miles on my 2016 Ford F150 XLT, 3.5 eco. Mind you it wasn't all towing. Lol.
So, last March we sold the Connect and bought a used 2017 Leprechaun 311FS with less than 9k miles, although the sticker by the door says 311FW. We've used it quite a bit and are very pleased with it. We did a 2 month trip (August and September), Niagara Falls, up into Canada, down to Michigan, Kentucky, Tennessee and back home. This trip was celebrating our 50th anniversary. We just got back from a 3 week trip down to North Carolina.
Our Toad is a 2019 Ford Ranger. Gold to celebrate 50 years, and what better to be pulled behind a Leprechaun but a pot of gold? Lol.
As stated earlier, I have learned a lot already and hopefully can provide some helpful information as well. I do all my own work and have already made improvements to our Leprechaun.
I have already added the steering stabilizer, and the 5 star tune. Front and rear sway bars are in the garage waiting for me to install. While in Kentucky this last trip I bought recliners and installed them. No real problems with the Leprechaun but have replaced a few of the electrical outlets, they were cracked.
There I go, trying to write a book, sorry for being so long winded. I'll add more to the appropriate threads. Glad to be on board. Ron
