Hello from Western Wisconsin

Hi all,

We are new to campers and will be picking up our new Hyper Lite 27 HFS-EP. Very excited and have wanted a toy hauler for a number of years now. While researching certain aspects I (Clay) stumbled upon the forum, so I guess I've been lurking for a couple of months.

We will be going to the Black Hills when I get back from Afghanistan at the end of June - I love the area and looking forward to being in a TT rather than a hotel room and I can do some grilling, while sitting around a campfire with a cocktail.

I will add a photo of the truck and trailer combo when Charity picks up the TT in about a month (end of April). She promised to send me photos - Any advice for things to look for when she goes through it with the dealer?

Thanks all

Welcome to the forum Clay and Charity from a fellow Wisconsinite. Congrats on your new Hyper Lite 27 HFS-EP. If you do a search for PDI (Pre Delivery Inspection) you should find several checklists that you can use.

Welcome. Lots of great camping opportunities in our area. Take a look at the national forest service parks along hwy 70 in WI. They're great!

Thanks for the link Wiscampsin - filled with good info.

Acadianbob - I am looking forward to many nights camping. One thing I really like about many of the areas in WI, that I'm familiar with, is how friendly they are (generally) towards ATVs

We are in St. Croix Falls along the shores of the beautiful St. Croix River and above Interstate Park. It might not be the furthest destination but I want to camp in Interstae Park. Absolutely love it

Welcome to the forum from another Wisconsinite!! Haven't been to Interstate SP, in quite some time, but I love it also. We do have some great state parks here, but we need to convince our state legislators to dump the law limiting the number of electric sites allowed in each park.

Thank you for your service and best wishes for a great camping season! (if we ever see spring, that is!)

Trudinator - I wasn't aware that there was a law limiting the number of electric sites a State campground. That's a very strange law. When I talk to Charity it sounds like Old Man Winter is not giving up without a fight.

Ed - Thanks for the kind words. I'm actually a civilian engineer that works for the Army (Corps of Engineers) and normally I work out of the St. Paul MN office. It's kind of strange - haven't wore a uniform in a number of years since getting out of the Navy in the 90's and now I wear one for the Army (until June). I'm conflicted during the Army - Navy game every year.

Welcome C n C.

St Croix Falls?? Sounds like the greater Twin Cities area to me! Have a safe trip back to the states. We fall camped at Willow River last October in the pup and one of the finalists for the first trip this year (Mid April) is Interstate (WI). Love western WI. Congrats on the new camper. I looked it up and seems like a great model.

You see any dispersed campers/boondocking out there in Afghanistan?? ;-)

Actually WarMovies I saw something today that made me wish I had my camera on me. I'm on a German base and I walked by a German armored vehicle with a heavy 2 wheeled trailer stuffed with their camp gear. The first thing I thought of was that set up would make a great pic for the boondocking thread.

Interstate is great - I love hiking there in the winter. I would bring my dog and let him run off-leash because there was no one (or almost no one) in the park. It made for one happy lab. The trails are great and so many campsites that can see the river.

Duuuuude! You need to go find that trailer and take a pic! Being a military man I'm sure you understand an order when you hear one. ;-)
