Smile Hey Now!

Hi from Kevin and Liz. We are currently living in the Pittsburgh PA area and we just purchased our Rockwood GeoPro G19QB.

I grew up camping. My parents had a 70's Trail Star pop up that they refurbished. I have backpacked my whole life, with tent and without.

Liz and I tent camped with 5 boys (yours, mine, and ours), then bought a 1986 - 29 ft. Citation bunkhouse that we kept seasonal at Mountain Springs in Shartlesville, PA for a few years. We sold it when we came out to Pittsburgh in '07. We tented a few more times through the years but now that the kids are all grown and out (almost) we are determined to travel - just the 2 of us!

Our first trip with the Geo Pro is this coming weekend. We plan to keep fairly local this year as we learn about the new trailer, break it in, etc... We will attend Musikfest this year (our kids band is playing one night) in Bethlehem, PA. There are a number of options for camping nearby.

Eventually we plan to travel the Blue Ridge Parkway, go to the Great Smokey Mountains, travel the Civil Rights Trail and the Blues Trail from Alabama through Mississippi, Louisiana, Arkansas, and Tennessee.

Beyond that we are looking at heading to the southwest (NM, AZ, UT, CO) and also the northeast in years to come (NY, VT, NH, and ME). And did I mention Texas? We will go to Austin for some SXSW music events and other places as well at some point.

This forum is an invaluable resource and we appreciate it being available to us. So glad we made it!

Welcome from NJ, new GeoPro G19FD owner here. We just did Gettysburg, was great. I recommend doing an overnight in your own driveway to test and learn systems before you actually go anywhere, so much easier to do when you're not under the pressure of loading and prepping for an actual trip.

Hello and welcome! While we don’t have the exact same camper, we have one of a similar size that just the two of us travel with. It’s a perfect size, easy to maneuver, stores on the side of my garage, and we can use it at the last minute without much planning!

Due to some work commitments, our first outing this year is Memorial Day weekend. It is an annual trip we take with my parents to Lancaster. They no longer have an RV, but traveled around the country multiple times in a Class C. We rent a park model for them for the weekend, and they love it (as do we)!

I’ve done a lot of back packing and tent camping, and really love being warm/cool, dry, etc. Enjoy your new trailer and the adventure it brings.

Sweet! We've not named our rig as of yet. However I am breaking it in correctly (see pic). Could you imagine having a decent TT on Summer Tour back in the day? LOL!

Welcome from Louisiana

Spent some time in Farmington; Nemacolin and love PA. I expect you have a number of beautiful places to camp for your first season. When you head down south for the music, expect to be fed well.

Yessir thank you indeed. I have spent a little time in '05 with my National Guard unit down around Jefferson, Riverdale, and New Orleans for Katrina, and later when Rita came through we went to Jennings. Y'all took good care of us as you started to regain your footing!
