Got me a Thunderbolt XLR (386X12HP)
This is my first RV and will be doing full time by June. I got a great deal on the RV. But I have no truck yet. I had to store it in Allegan MI as that is where I was when I found it.
I am planning on getting a newer Ram Cummins 3500 Dually.
Is this overkill for a 40’er?
I look forward to any help y’all can give this newbie.

Welcome from a fellow Coloradan! You are always better off with as much truck as you can get...especially where we live pulling heavy loads over mountain passes and windy conditions. Our altitude also robs HP. I pull my toy hauler with a GMC 3500HD Denali (SRW), and I am thankful for both the power for the climbs and the exhaust brake for long downhill runs. Good luck with your new rig...and enjoy all the awesome places to RV in this amazing area of the country!

Alright. Wow, thanks everyone. Oh K, Here is where I am at today.
I got a great deal on a 2006 Dodge Ram 3500 Dually mega cab short bed Cummins Auto. (13k on a Jasper Long block and 30k on a modified trani)
I have posted a question about clearance with a Turnover ball goose neck and the trailer; everything else is perfect for the Tow. His name is Larry.

I will be installing 4.10 gears, an Exhaust brake and a trailer brake amid other Mods. I chose this truck because it had never been used as a hauler and saved so much on the front end I can afford to add the Tow features I want. Now to figure out where to have the work done. I have heard both jobs are not for the layman to performed.
