Hoping to be a new Clipper or Viking 17BH owner

Hi! I'm from Ontario, Canada. I'm looking at both these brands at a couple of dealers and hope to buy soon. I'm upgrading from a 2012 Trailrunner Scout 14RB that I totally love. But when I bought it, I planned on it being just me and the dogs, going to dockdiving competitions, and now my hubby has decided he wants to join us.
The dealers aren't bargaining as much as I'd hoped, though, so I haven't signed. I purchased my last trailer in January in the U.S. and got a great deal, but I'm not seeing the eagerness to deal this time around. Either that or they're already at rock bottom?
What do you think the best month to buy is?
I joined this forum to snoop any potential issues, too, and I'm not finding any, so good news? Again, I love my Scout, and trading it in for a problem trailer would be horrible!
Any input is welcome!

Hello,

My wife and I bought a Clipper 17FQ last year and love it. Same overall dimensions as the 17BH with just a different layout. If it's just the two of you you may want to take a look at the FQ. The "island" bed was what sold us on this model. No more climbing over your sleeping spouse for the midnight run. The overall fit and finish is great for a small, lightweight, economical trailer. And other than the name on the side I don't think there's any difference between the Viking & Clipper.

I suspect the improving economy is to blame for dealers not willing to bargain. If they're getting the asking price why would they want to take less?

Here's what we did to get the best price. I searched the internet for the lowest cost in the US. That was from a dealer in Omaha which is a pretty good distance away. I then called the nearest dealer to me here in western Colorado and told them I was willing to pay that minimum plus what it would cost me to go get it from Omaha. They agreed and we picked it up a week later. It helped that it was the 2014 model when the 2015s were already out and fall was approaching.

I think fall is the best time to shop. New models are out and people are winding down from summer trips. You'd think winter is the best time but I've seen several (indoor) RV shows scheduled and folks are thinking about the prospect of spring and warmer weather.

Good luck on your shopping!

Thanks for the welcome! It *is* just the two of us, but I need the option for more sleeping, so that if I invite friends, there is room. And so I can boot the hubby out when he's snoring I pick it up on January 31. So excited!
