Howdy

New member. Just picked up a Ď14 Sunseeker 3170DS. First motor home. Coming from a truck camper. Iíve been on forums for 15yrs or so (tigeowners.com, AAFO.com) so, hopefully wonít need too much hand holding around here.

Already had it out for a week at Shasta.

Thanks for the warm welcome. Appreciate it. Always a good sign on a new forum.

A little background and what we’re up to. Waterskiers out of Reno. The winters are spent on the snow but summers are on the lake. The 3170 will primarily be a beach unit. Any tips or advice on driving one in sand would be awesome. Not too worried. I’ve been going to this lake all my life Literally and then some. The last 15yrs with my truck camper and boat. I’m familiar with the area. Just never had my own personal motor home in it. It can get deep though. Beyond that, hoping to get out on some other trips now. Don’t really plan on towing the boat with it. I believe in having a support vehicle so the truck tows the boat. See pic above. FWIW, that set up does not sag as it appears. That’s just the camp site. It runs level. ‘04 Duramax/‘00 Tige.

The 3170 is mostly stock but it has 600w of solar on a Tri-Metric TM 2030-RV. Still don’t know a whole lot about it. Any advise would be awesome. It seems to operate flawlessly. No matter what, batteries are 100 by 10am everyday. It’s giving a balance reminder but I’m only on two 6v golf cart batts. Do I need to balance 2 batts? Any known pitfalls to this setup?

It will need tires next year. Date codes are ‘14 but installed in ‘16. It’s been stored inside most its life. No cracking and reasonable tread. I do have tire covers(?) for them. I’ve put about 500mi on them in the last two weeks and they feel fine. It drives great overall. Better than expected power. Trans is smooth. Doesn’t pull either way. Brakes are good. No pull, no shake. Plenty of pad. All hvac is working as it should. Fans are going to need be replaced eventually. Needs a slide out seal. Onan 4k fires right up and runs smooth. 352hrs. Water heater works great. All LED bulbs throughout interior. Awning LEDS are about half dead. Doesn’t look to be too bad of a fix. Got the Bluetooth situation figured out on the Magnadyne HU today. Yikes. Dug out the subwoofer. Tragic. All the settings were basically backwards. Got everything as good as I could but, I foresee a new sub and box and HU and...? It actually sounds ok now but, it’ll piss me off before long. I don’t need it loud, I need it accurate. I don’t even like loud. But I hate crappy.

What I need is more crap to put in it. I’ve got my camping setup boiled down to what I can fit in an 8’ truck camper. Ya, not much. I’ve got empty compartments everywhere now.

Blah blah blah. I know, start a thread. Do a search. Do your own homework.

Thanks all. Hopefully my (and your) issues will be minor.
