Camperman83: Welcome to the forum. We live in Lakewood, so 15 miles from you, and have had a Forest River travel trailer and fifth wheel. The previous suggestion to camp locally to learn your way around both your trailer and an RV campground's facilities is a good one. We did that with friends who had had trailer for years. We reserved adjacent RV sites at Chatfield State Park over a weekend and they showed us the ropes.
My suggestion would be to reserve an RV site at Bear Creek Lake Park (a Lakewood city park with an online reservation system), located at US 285 and C-470. It is 30/50A electric only, so not as popular as Chatfield and Cherry Creek SPs, but it will help you learn about using water fill and dump stations. It's also a mile from my house and where I kayak, fish, and ride my E-bike. So, if you have questions while there, you can call or text me. If you are having a major problem, I can even bring my bike, help you solve your problem, and then take a ride around the lake.
Send me a PM if you decide to go to BCL Park and would like my cell number.
FYI: For seven years, I have had a blog about FREE and inexpensive camping in the Colorado mountains that includes routes, campsites, dump stations, not-to-miss scenic attractions, permits and passes, best fall aspen leaf viewing, wildlife areas, and more. It can be accessed
HERE. I update it annually or more frequently when events occur like that indefinite closure of US 50 at Blue Mesa Reservoir.
