Howdy from sunny Arizona!

New member, owner of a Rockwood Mini Lite 2507, recently retired fire chief, and a slave to wanderlust! Passionate about motorcycles (I ride a 2009 BMW R1200GSA and a 1976 Bultaco Sherpa T), competitive shooting, flyfishing, and metal working.

Maybe my wife and I will see a few of you on the road!

Thanks for adding me to the forum.

Howdy!

I'm a new member too; picking up a Windjammer next week. I'm taking the family to AZ early next month on our way home from UT. Planning on saying at the KOA in Flagstaff. Any thoughts on that campground or the area, if familiar? It's one of the place we're considering for relocation our of CA. Thanks!

Flagstaff KOA

Sorry, no opinion on the Flagstaff KOA. I live about 50 miles south of there and try to spend as little time in Flagstaff as possible. Traffic is miserable, it’s a college town and has all those issues, and their taxes are too high!

I belong to the Flagstaff Masonic Lodge, so I can't avoid it completely, but both my wife and I are of the same opinion, it’s gone to hell since the 60s and 70s!

Safe travels!

Oh great. High taxes and traffic are the primary the reasons we want to leave CA. Any spots in AZ that you would recommend for a family with two young boys? Does that exist? Ha!

Welcome!
My wife, son and I also enjoy motorcycling as well as traveling with our Flagstaff hybrid.
Son rides a K1600GT and we just returned from the BMWMOA rally in Des Moines a few weeks ago. Awesome rally!

Alternative landing spots

If you’re looking for high country living, and want to escape traffic and taxes, you might try Show Low and The Pinetop/Lakeside area in the White Mountains.
Steer clear of Prescott, Flagstaff, and Williams for living (housing prices are extreme and housing is as hard to find as water). They’re nice places to visit, and there’s a real nice KOA outside Williams that's just a stone's throw from Bearizona for your trip.

Your boys (and you!) will love Bearizona!

Welcome from sunny and hot Yuma, AZ!

As for an RV park in Flagstaff, I stayed at Black Bart's RV Park a couple of months back on my way back from Albuquerque and it was a pretty decent place.

Thanks for the advice! The White Mountains look real nice; we'll drive into and explore around those areas when we are in AZ next month. I just booked a few nights at the KOA near in Williams near Bearizona. I think the whole family with have fun there. Thanks again for the advice and recommendations. MP
