We like Kerrville for short trips, might find an openeing there! Its alot of fun getting a new RV and setting it up and learning about all the bells and whistles!
Great tips on Matagorda Bay and Kerrville. Thanks much; I wrote 'em down... So much to see; now to just get away and do it!!

Yeah, that's one thing you'll find out as you try to get out more. On holiday weekends, state parks fill up way in advance. I don't know why, but it's crazy. Especially if you want full hook-ups.

Speaking of state parks, you should also try to hit Garner State Park sometime. The Frio River is beautiful out there. And the bat cave at Concan is an awesome sight with the Mexican Freetail Bats all coming out at sunset.

Another great location added to the list on the list. Thanks Ed.

Haven't been out there in more than 20 years... Wonder if I can still swing off that rope into the Frio without someone having to jump in to bail the ole guy out?

We camped at Kerrville a couple of weeks ago and had a blast. We got there on a Wednesday and had the whole park to ourselves for a couple days! So peaceful and deer everywhere.

We do love Garner! The river is beautiful there. We went 2 years ago and had a great time. Have any of yall been to Shiner? There are RV spots in the city park there that have electric and water. There is also a dump station. Not very many people know about it and weve been the only people there when weve gone. There are alot of historical places around there and then theres the brewery tour you can do.

Another added to the list! That's not all that far from us and it seems like it could be a nice weekend getaway...

Appears the key is to take advantage of weekdays... We're about 45 minutes from Fredricksburg and hope to put in there sometime next month.

Then maybe over to Kerrville/Comfort to see how the 3:15 rear does on the big hills before we consider the mountains next year...

DW and I love Fredericksburg and try to go there as often as we can. That's another nice thing about Kerrville is that you're only 30 minutes away from Frederickburg and Bandera. Anyway, good luck and good camping!

Howdy from Santa Fe about 20 minutes north of Galveston. We just got back from goliad state park. Nice park interesting missions. Missed shiner though. Did bastrop state park, Stephen f Austin and lake Livingston state parks this summer. Matagorda is about two hours from us and have heard really good things about it. There is so much to see in Texas and can't wait to go again. Happy camping

Howdy Whisky.

Great memories of Inks Lake. That's on our short list of near-locations for this fall.

Our maiden voyage was good with just very minor problems. Looking forward to the next one. Blanco State Park, more than likely.

Have a great time...

Our highlight is Saturday evening when we have an Acoustic jam session at the Arlington Sheraton's 'Beach House'... Lots of 60s/70s and folk tunes as you would expect from us geezers. Sunday mornings are always bittersweet as we say goodbye to good friends until the next show.
Ok, so now I have to go to Texas and I don't even have a trailer yet! (tomorrow I will) This Canuck has been listening to Jerry Jeff for decades and for a while listened to New Braunfels radio streaming on the internet when my friends and colleagues would let me. One of my goals is to visit Austin and the High Hill country. I'll have my mandolin along for sure. Retirement beckons and so does the road. Maybe milady & I will meet some of you good folks in some park, some time, somewhere. Welcome Scratch from another newby on the forum.

Oh, I forgot to mention... last week of August we met Chris, Dana & their son Roscoe from the Austin TX area! Chris & family were doing an awesome road trip til he starts his new job. We had a great evening gabbing around the campfire. I introduced him to a nice Nova Scotia pale ale. Chris, if you happen to read this, a big shout out to you and Dana and Roscoe!

Howdy Nammy!
The welcome mat is always out in these parts. Love to hear that mandolin someday; I can picture sitting around a firepit in a state park doing some bluegrass. I take the old Guild with me most everywhere we go and every now and then come across another picker. Doesn't get any better in my opinion...

Picked up the TT yet?
