Howdy from the TX Hill Country
Howdy and hope you folks can steer me straight when I ask dumb question. Take it easy as I am a bit of a newb at RV stuff. Wife and I live in the Texas Hill Country about 1/2 way between Hondo (county seat) and Bandera near Medina Lake. Live on some acreage with our 10 dogs, 3 cats. The missus retired last week so we are going to do some camping I guess. We previously owned a Lance truck top and then a Sunnybrook Harmony 21FBS. Sold the Sunnybrook a couple weeks ago and found a fiver toy hauler which works well with my main fixation of my trike and bikes. I have a 08 GL1800 Champion conversion for two-up and a 1980 GS1000G for solo.
I am going to pick up my new to me 2011 Forest River Wildwood X-Lite 22XLSRV (hope I got that right) toy hauler next week up near Dallas. I have an old 96 XL250 crew cab with the gas hog motor (7.3L / 460 ci V8). The truck ain't bad unloaded but pulling it gets 7-8 mpg if I treat it gentle. I am installing a gooseneck and going to use an Andersen Ultimate to mate up with the fiver puck. Already have air brake controller and the towing mirrors. Will eventually get a rear view camera on the back of the toy hauler as I can't back up worth a darn and like to see behind on the road.
The trailer has limited inside storage so will be asking dumb questions about that, a shower door (curtain in there now). Don't say there is no such thing as a dumb question till you hear mine.
Anyway, I do bike carburetors for a living, attend Northwest Independent Baptist and am a member of Bandera gun club. I used to play and enjoy golf frequently while I worked for the Fed govt as I had tons of goof-off time but today not so much. Starting to ramble so will leave it there and hope this is friendly bunch! Attaching a pic of the Sunnybrook I sold to some nice from all the way from Kansas.
