I am so excited!

Hello folks, I was just told by a co-worker that he is giving me a 2004 Rockwood Freedom pop-up. Mainly because the lift system broke and they lost parts trying to repair it and are tired of messing with it. I am so excited I had to find someone to tell... I havent even seen it yet and am supposed to pick it up this weekend. Once I get the VIN and model number I will be able to track down a new lift kit for it and will probably just replace the whole system to make it new as I understand that that is a common fail point for pop-up's.

We have always been tent on the ground campers but I am ready to upgrade to a bed off the ground. My youngest two are graduating this year so me and the wife are looking forward to taking some trips together. I'm sure I will be posting questions as I run into things in getting the camper functional. So just wanted to say "Howdy" from Texas and thank you in advance for your help.

Congratulations and to the forum!!

That pop-up is not very old, you should be able to get replacement parts form a good dealer. Replacing the entire lift system is not all that difficult, but may be somewhat expensive.

Post your results, we all love to see someone taking the time to work on their trailer and make it their own.

Welcome to the forum and congrats on your 2004 Rockwood Freedom pop-up. Nice co-worker there, I'd at least buy him a 12 pack .

Oops

I picked up the paperwork from my friend so I can get the tags and title in my name and it turns out it is a 1995 Rockwood Freedom 2280s. But hey, its free and that's hard to beat. I still havent seen it but I pick it up on friday. They used it and maintained it well until the lift system cable broke. So I'm still excited and will make it good as new once I get it. Cant wait to use it...

Congrats! This brings back memories of when we purchased our (used) pop-up back in the late 80's. I fixed some broken parts, while Phyllis sewed new canvas tops. I can't remember the model, but boy did we have fun with that thing. And the kids enjoyed no more tent camping.

Have fun with this and enjoy!

Welcome and congrats on the "new" unit.
Once you get it home, it might be worth your while to start a thread about the restoration. It's pretty much guaranteed that you'll get lots of good advice, some folks will be able to steer you in the right direction for parts and plenty of others will be there for simple moral support.
Good luck!

I absolutely love pop up campers! Seeing them on the road..in campgrounds..anywhere. I've read it a million times before and will again I'm sure about how much fun others have had with theirs and the lasting memories! Hope the fix is simple and cheaper than expected. I'm going to miss mine. Selling her when the snow melts.
