Introduction

Greetings everyone! Jim here, and a Newbe to RV life. Just getting started learning systems, making minor repairs etc from home base in Huntsville Alabama. We are in downsizing mode right now and hopefully by next September hitting the road full time. For now we’ll ease into it and get the kinks worked out, or at least to a manageable point. So far I’ve learned a lot, and will learn more as I go but it’s going to be our way of life for a long time and I’ll hopefully be ready to tackle whatever is ahead. Thanks! Safe travels

Are you planning on going full time or taking long trips? What rig did you buy?

Welcome to the forum from Texas!

Welcome to the forum from Texas!
Yes, after downsizing we are hitting the road full time. My rig is a gently used ( minor problems expected) 2017 Forest River Sunseeker 3050S. Probably make our base of operations in Texas (mail delivery/forwarding service) the RV has 8700 miles but wasn’t properly maintained. Working on a bad leveling solenoid with a bent sensing rod and ice machine issues but will not stop me from hitting the road.

Welcome to the group Jim. First trip shakedowns are always "entertaining". Will be heading up to Monte Sano in November, one of our favorite close by camps.

It is beautiful there. Btw! Any suggestions on keeping my rig at the ready without a full blown winterization ? We’re just waiting for my license plates and registration to show up, and I don’t want to winterize so that we can take off as soon as we are able. I have taken some steps like draining my fresh water holding tank, and I have a good working refrigerator for which I’m keeping running with 110 ac. My hot water tank is working great too but I have it shut down because I do not have my city water hooked up and I don’t want the hot water tanks to cook down without water pressure to supply it. I’m not lazy as far as doing work , been an aircraft mechanic for years. I just want to be able to leave our home at a moment’s notice. I was thinking about leaving a space heater on inside and opening cabinet doors to allow for heat to circulate around all the pipes. Your thoughts?
