Introduction finally- HAHA

Hey there...I figured since I had been posting I had better intro myself properly. My name is Rachael and I am married to a soldier and we have 3 beautiful little girls ages 6, 4, 2. My "son" is our dog Bruno and since we are done with human kids...we lovingly joke that he is our son. I am a stay at home mom and I teach aquatics fitness classes at our YMCA. I am the primary hauler, hitcher, camper backer-upper of the family and because of that...I ask the questions, do the learning and handle 98% of our camping issues. Recently had the electric brake control added to my vehicle and had a good time learning that on the first haul bringing the new camper home yesterday...what a difference!

We have had quite the camper ordeal as some of you know but finally have a brand new 2010 unit that will be ours for quite some time and couldn't be happier. We started our camping journey out with a Rockwood Premier pop-up...and slowly upgraded in style and size as you can see by my signature.

Hope you all will have my around even if I no longer own a Forest River Product. So that's me. I like to laugh and I am quite sarcastic so remember that if you are reading anything I post.

well, at least welcome the the world of Hybrids!

i thought Gulfstream had stopped making hybrids. nice to know that they still are. haven't seen anyone on any of the RV forums with a newer one.
recommend some Popup Gizmos or solar blankets for those very white canvas ends. it'll help with cooling and keeping the canvas from staining.

Oh thank you for the name of those covers - I was just trying to talk to my husband about that the other day! I am going to do some looking for one so that we can have it on hand.

PS: I wish we could have a BIG hybrid but maybe in a few years. Thanks for the welcome!

Welcome to the forum and congrats on the new camper. We won't hold it against you that it's not a Forest River. Everyone makes mistakes (lol!!!).

hi, I am glad to hear another woman pulling a camper alone. I will be with my 13 yr old son most of the time. I am trying to make a decision about a hybrid. Getting confused about the types. We love the Rockwood ROO 19 and were ready to purchase from a dealer 8 hrs away because we cannot find what we want for the price we can get from them but, even though the dealer says the camper is the same (pictures look the same) the dealer has the camper listed on the Paper work as 18' 1" and Listed as a Rockwood Lite RTL19ROO. Now, I am real concerned about giving $1000. to hold till we get there in a few days. Anyone have any input as to the differences?

Hmmm....the model 17 is listed (on forest river's site) as being 18'11". The others are all over 20'.

I don't know much about the Roo's but I can make a suggestion on the hold fee. It's WAY too high. We paid $500 to one place once before and the place we finally bought from was going to take $200 until we basically said we wanted it (we already knew just wanted to see it in person)...and the guy said - eh, no fee, just come on up. I would also make sure it's refundable because what happens if you get there and it's not what you expect or you hate it?!

And thanks for the compliment. I am not your average woman/wife. There is very little that I won't try myself at least once before I say I can't do it. I recently just remodeled our kitchen - demo'd the tile & wall, got some help to splice in new backerboard pieces and then I did all the new tile work completely on my own.

I am proud I admit. Point is, I like to be independent and strong and capable. I don't want to feel like I can't do something just because I am a woman and we are just as capable of hitching, hauling, driving and placing a trailer as the next guy.

model numbers have nothing to do with actual length. the Roo 19 is over 20' long.
it would help if you directed us to the dealer's website. have you checked the prices from RVWholesalers or RVDirect? they are the top Roo dealers in the country and you can use their prices to negotiate with local dealers.
