Just joined the club

My wife & I just purchased a Rockwood 8289WS 5th wheel (stepping up from a Jayco popup). Working on getting a Ford F250 to pull it and then equipping it with a hitch, tonneau cover etc. Have dealer installing J-T Strongarms on 5er before picking up. Am going to purchase and install IntelliJacks leveling system on 5er after we get it along with LED lights under awning at the roller. Looking forward to many years of retirement camping.

Welcome! My wife, daughter and I camped in our pop-up for a wonderful year (Coleman Niagara) before making the huge step up to our fifth wheel!

Pretty crazy, but exciting!

Before you commit to the F-250, might I suggest that you run the numbers and ensure that the truck can handle you, passengers, your stuff and the pin weight while still being within the truck's ratings? It very well may be- but you're in the perfect position now to verify before you've signed on the line.

Cheers!

Welcome to the forum and congrats on your Rockwood 8289WS. We had our dealer install JT Strongarms front & rear on our Sabre before picking it up. They do a very nice job.

To ependydad

We have thoroughly checked out what vehicle was required before we bought the trailer and we have extra 500# payload and plenty of GCWR to spare. Thanks for the concern, lots of people don't do that and over load or tax the truck.
