We had a great time at Ray Roberts. We did talk to several other campers around us and it seemed the park rangers had nothing else to do but harass people. The first night it was after 10pm which is quiet time and he said we were talking too loud so we were basically whispering after that. There was an open field on one side and a campsite with 6 kid and 4 adults that were up very late. The second night we went in the camper after 10pm and played cards. He knocked on the door at 10:05 and said even though we were in the camper, he could still hear us outside and to be more quiet. It was only normal conversation with a few laughs here and there. Other than that, had a great time.

Glad you had a good first trip out. I don't know which is worse, over enforcement of the quiet hour or no enforcement at all. Maybe over enforcement is not as bad. In some places quiet hour means the management has locked the doors and gone home for the night leaving the inmates running the asylum.

You sure it was a ranger and not an over-zealous park host in uniform?

We've met some pretty nutty ones over the years.
