Just unhappy (2016 Vibe problems)

We just purchased our 31 foot 2016 Vibe new in February. Brought it out three times, and the last, coming from St. Louis, we burned bearings in the rear axle and been on the phone this week trying to find someone or get reimbursed for expenses, but can't seem to get a great answer. Disappointed in the fact, i would think we could get it repaired without constant calls.

I have been told by a local FROG owner that FR takes great care of its people. Hoping to get some response. Definitely rethinking my choice of FR product

HAHAHAHAHAHA !!!! When I had my 2018 repaired...after two trips...the Tech had to do a 4 page write up so the dealer could try to recover 1/2 the money from FR for the warranty work. The dealers have to fight with them, but they keep on selling them.

Good luck trying to get anything for this. They will say that you had the trailer over loaded and it is on you. They make all trailers very tight on weights. It is not just forest river or the frame manufacture Lippert it is all of them. I have a 312Qbud and I burned up all four wheel bearings last year on a trip to Florida. Lucky for me when I burned the first one up I was in Fayetteville NC and there was a very nice campground called Lazy Acres. There was a trailer parts shop down the street that was open on sundays and a northern tool right down the street. Needless to say I put all new bearings on there. After talking with parts guy there who was very knowledgeable I found out that lippert actually uses 3500lbs spindles on 5200lbs axles to get there 4400lbs axles. This is why they have the odd 6 lug hub with the smaller 3500lbs bearings. Do not feel comfortable just because you have 6 lug hubs. Needless to say after last season my trailer now has been upgraded to full 6000lbs axles, 3000lbs springs and greaseable shackle bolts. She now sits nicer and rides much stronger. I feel better with the Made in USA Dexter axles.

If they're Lippert axles don't expect to much. Don't ask me how I know.

Hmmm, not quite the answer I sought. Just wanted to know how well FR would take care of us. I paid for a warranty. I dont have much in there, especially not extra weight.

Did you get it fixed before notifying the dealer or FR, like a 3rd party repair? If you did this and are now trying to get FR to reimburse you good luck. If you haven't got it fixed yet and are working with your dealer then it should be easy. I've had numerous repairs now and not cost me a thing other than 3 minutes to snap a couple pics so my dealer could get the parts on order faster.

Oh ok, then yeah that will be a lot more difficult then being able to just drop it off at your dealer. FR does take care of their people (in my experience) but if you have to use an unconventional process it just takes longer.

One dealership said it wouldn't be until October that they could repair it, BUT she did say since it's four wheels, i can remove that wheel and run on three to dealership.

Why didn't any of the three dealerships tell me this?

Your dealer really told you that. You have got to be kidding.

Try tying one of your dog's legs up and see how well it walks on three legs. You would be doing the same thing with your trailer.

What about CoachNET? Did your trailer include a free year of their service? They would be the ones to help with field service or towing,

Even if you can find a mobile tech to come out, make sure the factory authorizes it first. I made that mistake and while they did eventually pay up it took a bunch of time and effort on my part that could have been avoided had they authorized it first. Unfortunately in my case we went camping on a Friday night in the snow and when we got there we had no heat. Having my family freeze for 3 days wasn't an option, those bitches would have killed me and used me for firewood.

BTW, keep in mind they don't typically pay travel time for the tech either. At least that's what they got me with.

Wheel bearings don't have to be repaired by an RV service shop. Look for a local mobile auto repair or more likely a local tire shop. Of course get the OK from FR so you will be reimbursed.

I doubt if anyone is going to save you, save yourself.

Locate the closest repair facility, any self respecting mechanic can help you. Remove the bad wheel and use a tiedown strap to hold up the axle. Several wraps may be required. Empty the tanks and tow slowly. In the end you may have to replace the single tire as it will be overloaded and may have internal damage.

Good Luck

Oh yeah forgot about that. You are right, if OK'ed before the repair, FR will reimburse for everything but the service charge to come to the campsite.

Call
He is the contact at Forest River for Vibe.
Also, you have a year of Coach-Net, look through your materials to find the sign up if you didn't already and call them. They will help tow or get a mechanic to you.

But do all before you do the repair. After the fact creates problems

Call CoachNet
1-800-759-6999

You have it first year free. All free from Forest River, that company that doesn't take care of you.

Sorry for the sarcasm, I know you're in a mess. But no reason for bashing them because they don't instantly answer your issues. Many of the rest of us have issues too. I just spent 5 days in the shop on an appointment I had for months. But I'm tickled to death, they fixed my issues.
