Hi from Grand Rapids, MI. Green as green can be. First Travel Trailer, First full sized truck, first trip starting tomorrow morning. Heading to Alabama and then down to Florida for two months. Fortunate to have a good break in the weather. Belong to Harvest Hosts and Thousand Trails. Planned using RV Trip Wizard, which I found very helpful and fun to use. I am a retired trade-tech teacher and my wife is a retired science teacher. We have a great 1.3 year old blue Springer Spaniel that will be joining us. Did a ton of research, watched many videos and learned from my full time RV brother and sister in law. I'm ready for the adventure and the first thing to go wrong, but hoping you fine folks will by my library and counselors in the weeks ahead.
My only comment is you are not a Yooper, you are a troll from under the bridge as are lower peninsula Michiganders.
As mentioned above a yooper is someone who lives in the upper peninsula of Michigan. But I believe to be a true yooper you have to have been born there.
All other Michiganders who live under the bridge (Mackinac Bridge)
are called Trolls.
Therefore your cousins are Trolls.
Yes you got this correct. I am a true yooper born and raised in the Houghton County area of the Upper Peninsula. We call anyone below the mackinaw bridge trolls. LOL.

Welcome to the forum Rpodster, Hope this finds you in Florida. To those not familiar with the area, Republic is located in the UP just south of Michigamme. You can take the Yooper out of the UP, for many reasons but they often return. Enjoy the new rv adventure.
People that live in the U.P.! The upper peninsula.
Not trying to call you out - But - As a former Michigander (from Ionia, which is 30 minutes East of Grand Rapids); how does being from Grand Rapids make you a Yooper?
People from Grand Rapids are not Yoopers. Grand Rapids is in the middle of the lower peninsula and closer to South Bend, IN then the Upper Peninsula. IF you're originally from the U.P. and you're a transplant, then that makes a little more sense I guess.... signed, a fellow Michigander...
