My first Camper Flagstaff 27rlws

Hey everyone! I just picked up my 27RLWS with sapphire package a few days ago and I'm loving it so far. Hopefully we will be able to take it camping in the next few weekend! If anyone has any tips that might make my trip easier, feel free to help out. Also, any comments by owners of the 27rlws or 2703ws would be appreciated.

Love the floor plan

We bought the 2703WS about 6 months ago. Love the floor plan. Have not had any major issues to this point. Shower leaked at the pan and the steps unfold when traveling if we don't put a bungee cord around them. The a/c is marginal if the temps get above 100 and you are not in the shade of a tree, at least with the 13.5 in ours. Watch out for the cabinet doors when opening and closing the slides. I ripped off one of the top rear cabinet doors recently. Going to replace hinges on doors by slides with spring loaded ones to insure they don't pop open when traveling. Fireplace was great in winter. Overall happy with purchase. One other issue was the outside grill. The mounting bracket was too low and the grill support hit the plastic trim so it was not level. I cut down the bracket to solve the problem.

Nice camper and truck. My guess you have the 3.5 EB with over 1800 payload depending on the fuel tank size. I have a similar setup with the '16 F-150 towing a Hemisphere 282RK.

Congrats on the new Flagstaff. This thread will be of interest to you.

There are a lot of owners of the Flagstaff 27RLWS and its twin the Rockwood 2703WS on the forums so you'll find lots of great info by searching on those model numbers.

nice! I have a similar truck, my advice : WDH, and extended mirrors. mine have the blind spot detector so I just got some that attached to the original
I contacted a Ford rep who said extending electronic blind spot mirrors will be out next year and will fit 15-17.

Congrats. We got ours last year. Currently in our third consecutive week away from home and 2000 miles from home right now. Still love the floor plan and have only had minor issues.

We have the 27rlws 2017 and love it. We pull with 2011 f150 eb 3.5L scab 4x4 3.55 axle , Reese wd hitch, and having trouble with sway. We went to weigh at scales and too heavy for truck. Ford says we can pull up to 9800lbs of trailer (trailer loaded is 7000). The payload is getting us. Any ideas?

First, What does the truck's payload sticker say?
It's on the driver's door yellow sticker. It says "Occupants and cargo should not exceed xxxxlbs."
Second, does it have the Max Tow Package?

I just bought a 2014 F150 Ecoboost with a 1828lbs payload capacity. This was because my old truck had 500lbs less and towing our new trailer was a struggle. It has the Max Tow Package, 18" wheels and LT tires.

There's more to towing than just towing capacity.

I found this trailer harder to tow than other models of the same length and weight. With 2 slides behind the rear axle its heavy on the rear and lighter on the tongue than similar trailers. Load the trailer heavy on the front light on the back. Don't have the torsion bars too tight you want a little more weight on the back of the truck. Some tweaking and adjusting weight and we have about 2000 miles this year and 6000 last year on the trailer. Tows great now even in heavy cross winds on the prairies.

We have the same set up. Keep in mind that Ford puts cushy tires on these rigs. I put KYB shocks and SLT tires on and cured the sway. This year added airbags. Like others have noted put you extras in the front of the trailer and let more of the tongue weight help. We've. Been across country twice with no problems. Make sure your go to good trailer tires.
